5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/25/2020

GMC please take accountability for the sunroof leak issue! years of data, almost 100 complaints, someone should already know about this and have a solution! my car has serious leaking issues from the sunroof above the driver, electrical to cabin doesn't always work except dash lights, and headlights/turn signals work sporadically. The locks work when they're in the mood. Also means ac/heat works sometimes. . I live up north and it's 24 today. My windshield wiper fluid remains empty because it randomly turns on and drains out: which also means replacing my wipers is a bad idea because they randomly turn on for at most an hour and dry wiping the window. . . And destroying the wiper blades. All wheel drive won't work, despite mechanic seeing no issues. I've taken down the mounts and tried to flush the draining tubes myself. . And they're clear with no leaks when I tested the tubes. I don't know what to do. I wish I could afford to fix this, because we need this vehicle; everyday I'm scared to drive it! we won't drive at night for the risk of the headlights shutting off, and always fingers crossed my turn signals will function today. I have kids! my families not rich, we can't afford another vehicle or the costly repair, being that I'm a single mom barely buying bread and paying rent as it is since my hours got cut from covid. I only wanted a safe vehicle, I didn't realize I had to be specific and ask for one with headlights and electronics working appropriately, too. I'll be sure to next time I buy a car. . . Whenever that lucky day occurs. Please pray for us.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2018

Vehicle was at idle for 10 minutes before putting it in to drive on the evening of 3/3/2018. Began driving the vehicle and the stability/traction control light immediately came and began to shake violently on acceleration. All the dash lights began to flicker and then all electrical eventually died within 30 seconds of putting the vehicle in to drive. Once the car was safely pulled over, I noticed smoke coming from under the hood that had the smell of plastic or burnt wires. I popped the hood and the smoke was coming from the fuse box area. Thankfully the car didn't catch on fire. Some history on this vehicle; it was brought in to our local GMC dealership around September 2016 with stability trac control issues which was causing the car to hesitate roughly at idle and acceleration. After investigating, the dealer found that it was a loose wire on the bottom of the fuse box that was causing the problem; which they fixed and the problem never came back until the evening of our incident when the stc light came on; followed by the electrical failure throughout the entire vehicle. . . I'll put my money on that fuse box again as being the culprit. Aaa (battery systems technician) came out this morning to take a look at it and when he tried to run tests on the battery but the GMC was back feeding power in to his cables and melted them and the connector on his truck. He said that he thinks that it's the fuse box (without knowing history) but has never seen anything like this and suggested that we take it to a shop. It doesn't look like there are any recalls relating to this so this will be out of pocket to keep my family safe. Car will be headed to the shop soon but dreading the thought of that bill I don't feel we should have to pay on seeing is that this is a big safety issue.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2017

Transmission problems and saund problems.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2016

The Acadia has been making a clicking noise followed by no sound on the radio or blinkers. There was water in wire harness in three of the doors, which should not be occurring. This all took place while in park. And now while running or not.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2016

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Acadia. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired for a recall pertaining to the liftgate, support struts, and reprogramming of the computer. After the repair, the ability to automatically close the liftgate was inoperable because the motor stopped working. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was invalid. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2016

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Acadia. While driving at various speeds, the traction control and air bag warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. Also, while attempting to make a left turn and accelerate, the vehicle would not respond. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag module failed and would need to be programmed. The details for the diagnosis of the traction control could not be provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 07v062000 (air bags). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 158,000.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2016

The driver side floor board always has a wet spot when it rains. The rear speakers do not work. The passenger window cannot be operated by the drivers side. The rear window wiper fluid will intermittently work if the vehicle is in park with the left turn signal on.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2015

At 80,000 miles transmission went out and had to be rebuilt. Car is also leaking under the passenger and driver floor board and moon roof/sunroof drips down from dome lights onto third row seats. Leaking has caused multiple electrical problems. When there is a heavy rain ignition will still run even after key is turned off and key is out of ignition car is currently at 130,000. Also ignition will power down even while care is in motion warning light will illuminate stating "engine power reduced" "traction control off" and vehicle will not move. Car has had more problems than any other I have owned, will never purchase another gm vehicle.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2015

Water on the passenger and drivers side floor causing multiple electrical issues. Vehicle was parked on my driveway. Rain overnight.

18 Electrical System problem

The vehicle start somkeing.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

Corroded fuse block causes the SUV to not start periodically and requires several attempts before starting. I researched and this is a common problem with windshield and sunroof drains. Very expensive for owner to bare costs to repair.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2014

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that whenever she attempted to accelerate, there was a sudden increase of engine rpms and the vehicle failed to gain speed. Also, the contact mentioned that the vehicle failed to shift into gear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the transmission was defective and needed to be replaced. In addition, the contact mentioned that burning fumes were emitted into the vehicle. The contact stated that after inspecting the vehicle, she noticed that wires were burning in the engine compartment. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 48,000 and the current mileage was 48,060.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2014

Water leaking in car causing poor visibility and unsafe conditions as it drips all over, down the windshield, and out of the lights and dvd monitor.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2013

Bought this vehicle in 2010 with 89000 miles in 2013 timing chains went out took to GMC dealer and even though this was a recall about the timing chains cardinal in hazard ky would not fix this recall because they said if the vehicle had over 120000 miles the recall was expired. . So timing chains go out and I read from this site the recalls never expire ?? no the vehicle has major problems.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

We purchased this Acadia used in April 2010 with about 40,000 miles. In early July 2012 the transmission went out. This has been repaired under our extended warranty as of July 15, 2012. On August 1, 2013, our transmission went out again. During the first year of owning this vehicle, we have had the windshield wipers operating erratically and the radio will not always shut off when the engine has been stopped and driver's door opened & closed (possible electrical problems). We've asked our GMC dealership to address the electric, but each time they say nothing shows any errors on their computer tests. With the recent issue in a little over a year on the transmission (again!) we have found numerous sites from other 2007 Acadia owners stating the same problems and that it is repetitive. If this has been a widespread and known problem, this was not shared by our dealership. Given our vehicle has less than 100k miles and will likely have a 3rd transmission in its 6 year age, this is not a vehicle I feel safe having my wife and 3 young children continue to ride in. Unfortunately, our options are very limited financially to find a vehicle allowing for the amount of space needed for 2 car seats in addition to our 9 year old booster seat (normally cannot seat them in one row side by side by side). At this point, we are researching all options to get out of this Acadia as we cannot sink money into this vehicle to keep it running safely and not know if the transmission will continue to go out.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2013

Problems with window control while driving, unable to raise up window on passenger side from the driver controls.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2013

Bought with 58k miles on it, 9/2012. Problems began the following April. Sitting at red lights, the truck would stall out at acceleration, occasionally not restarting immediately. Dealers couldn't replicate problem. Problem briefly stopped, and now it has returned and is far worse. While driving, it shakes and jerks like a new driver learning to use a manual transmission. Several times the truck has shut off completely on highways while cruising at or around 70mph or accelerating to pass someone, nearly causing accidents. This truck has been towed home 3 times this month from this issue, I refused to take it to a GMC dealer because I can't keep paying $109 for diagnosis and they say they don't find anything (twice already). I recently had the vehicle scanned independently and it's given me codes 7ea and 7e8. The second code doesn't give a diagnosis. In the last week it has failed to start 4 times and I've been keeping video blogs to record what it is or isn't doing. It is currently sitting in my drive way, not operable. Gm customer service says there isn't enough evidence to support a recall, but everyone is having the same problems. Twice it stranded my wife and children on interstates. On 10/30/13 (on our anniversary, out of town none the less) it shut off and we had to get pushed to the shoulder. . . Very embarrassing! something must be done! everybody can't be telling the same lie! also, the "service airbags" notice just started showing.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2013

After spending $370. 51 at my local GMC dealer for stabilitrak errors resulting in low fuel input into the engine, with a maximum speed allowable at 35 mph, my 2007 GMC Acadia is once again experiencing stabilitrak errors. They generally occur when I roll to a stop at a stopsign or stoplight, but I am very concerned that the transmission will reduce speed when I travel the interstate. My local GMC dealer claimed this problem was caused by a "cam exhaust position sensor fault" and replaced the "cam exhaust position sensor" on 3-20-13 for $370. 51. For one week this repair worked and there were no stabilitrak errors. Ten days later, my 2007 GMC Acadia fwd is worse than ever, endangering me at night by shifting suddenly into "stabilitrak error, low fuel input" mode. I am terrified that my GMC dealer will charge me more money to pretend-fix this problem, as they have me coming in for $400-$1,100 repairs every other month now since they want to sell me a new car.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

The vehicle has two problems. The radio works, but there is no sound for the back up warning, turn signals or radio. This problem occurs in the GMC Acadia, Chevrolet traverse and the Buick enclave. The problem is likely the premature failure of the bcm or the amp. When driven in the rain, the power steering fails momentarily and it is very difficult to control the vehicle.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2012

I was driving my car when all of a sudden it wouldn't accelerate above (20mph?). I was forced to park it at an apartment complex and get it towed to the dealer. Now less than 6 months after paying out of pocket for that repair, I am having the same problem.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2012

Vehicle has been serviced 4 times for water leak that dealer can not find. Water that has leaked inside has caused a malfunction in the fuse block. This caused all lights, including headlights to flicker and gauges to read wrong information. Very dangerous and distracting when driving. Could lead to more serious electrical problems if water continues to leak in.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2012

Every time it rains the cab leaks water everywhere inside vehicle, can't even go through a car wash. . . . . Only a matter of time before mold, mildew and electrical problems occur. . Not to mention having to where a rain suit in the car every time it rains.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2012

The car has leaked since we bought it. We have had it in the shop several time at the place we bought it and it continues to leak. Recently, the leak has started to affect the electrical workings of the car. The florr has been saturated with water and when approaching a stop, water will pour from the ceiling, soaking the driver and rear poassengers. The water will run down the inisde of the windshiled which impacts visibility.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2011

Mold/musty smell, water leaking from dvd entertainment system and under dash on both driver and passenger floorboards. Dealer cleaned sunroof drains, replaced sunroof seal, still leaking. Water is settling into electrical components in dash including the blower motor.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2011

We have experienced recurring leaks in roof of vehicle, apparently related to problems with sunroof drains, resulting in issues with electrical system (intermittent problems with stereo, windows, power locks, power mirrors, etc. ) very concerned about impact on air bags.

35 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2010

For quite some time, the front right air bag sensor does not sense that there is a passenger sitting in the front right seat. We have had the sensor checked repeatedly at the dealer, and they have not been able to replicate the problem (saying everything is fine). The passengers typically are our children, both of whom are 5'9" tall and weigh 120 to 125 pounds. We usually have to stop the car, turn the car off and then on, and then it works. This past week, the sensor was flashing, and we got a related "service air bag" light on the dashboard. We took it in to the dealer, and have been told it is a $1,000 repair to replace the front right passenger sensor module. This after we have had this item checked multiple times (and have been told that there has been nothing wrong with it), and, after a full extended warranty on the car (which included air bags) has expired. There has been a recall for 2007 GMC Acadias for improper sensors, but our car was not included in the recall. In 'googling' this issue on the internet, we see several complaints on official car sites like edmunds, stating a similar problem for other Acadias. We believe that GMC has known that it has had faulty sensors on their 2007 GMC Acadia models, but did not make their 2007 recall comprehensive enough. We would like for the nhtsb to investigate with GMC how many other 2007 GMC Acadias have been serviced for similar problems. Our car has never been involved in any vehicle crash or accident.
