general problems of the 2007 GMC Acadia

My 2007 GMC Acadia spontaneously caught fire while driving. No warning lights and or notifications came on. My car began to fill with smoke from the floorboard and smoke came from the hood. The front end of the car was fully engulfed in a matter of minutes, total loss.

Tamaka recall, my 2007 GMC Acadia, lost power driving down the road. I was doing about 55 mph and lost all acceleration and my car would not move above 20 mph. . Thankfully I wasn't hurt but was scary bc other people were behind me and my car slowed down so fast! after further review this seems to be a huge issue with this vehicle, and to me seems like a huge safety hazard. I still have to have my car looked at but now the engine light is no longer on. I feel that this vehicle is very unsafe to drive when you could be driving down the freeway and lose power. . . Then when taken to the shop the car seems to be in good working order only until it does it again. This would be one thing if this was a one person case but this is a many person case! thank you.

Shortly after purchasing 2007 Acadia it rained and my front floorboards flooded due to the sunroof clogging up. It overflowed into the car bc it couldn't drain. Transmission shutters at 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear only at low speeds or under tension. Navigation keeps saying disc read error. Supposed to be able to get 2 free disc with the life of the car but it nearly impossible to get. I hate this car. I have had nothing but problems with it since we have gotten it. I am almost due to upgrade and I will not be getting an Acadia.

Driving on highway and loss all powers to transmission at 65mph. Car would not move.

2016 both front and back ac had to be replaced, currently transmission is slipping, rear lift gate, after recall fix, still won't shut -takes up to 3-4 times to close lift gate when nothing is in the way, dvd/cd player stopped working in 2015.

Fuel gage system is not showing how much gas is in the tank. The fuel level sensor has failed 3 times . The tank has been filled and needle show either empty of 3/4 full. The fuel level code po464. It was returned back to dealer on 6/13/2016 and problem still continues after said problem was fix with silicon in connection. (water damage) how ever with end 10 miles needle all over the place ? got home and turn the car off and on to cycle and needed reads empty after a full take of gas. ?.

Had the vehicle for 4wks and have been back to dealer 4times. 2times for check engine light (2nd time reported water leakage in front floor driver & passenger sides after it had rained), 2times for stabilitrak off and service brake system warning (3 different incidents one within 1 wk of purchase), interior lights for entry and rear console controls are inoperable.

We have had water leaking in through our third row lights, and through the 3rd row seat belts, and under the dash when it rains. The car is usually in a tilt when this happens (front up), and it gets worse as I drive. I can usually hear the water sloshing around. I took it to our local dealership and they stated the drain tubes were clogged, so they unclogged them. I spent $350, and 2 days later, when we had a big rain, it was leaking even more than ever. It is currently back at the dealership where they are water testing yet again (this makes the 3rd time I have taken it for this issue). I received a phone call this morning, and they stated it was the back moonroof that is not properly sealed, so they are taking it out, and going to reseal everything. This is costing me another $900.

We had a snow storm so the vehicle sat in the driveway, the next day my wife on her way to work calls and tells me that the truck started to display all of the following, traction control off, service traction control, service stabletrak, engine power reduced. She lost speed but nothing major happen. The next day I took the vehicle to work while driving home at a stop light the truck started to shake and all of the same messages started to come up again, traction control off, service traction control, service stabletrak, engine power reduced. I was able to pull to the side and turn the vehicle off and turned it back on and the same thing continued to happen with the engine shaking and the information center displaying everything all over again. I called a local GMC dealer and they told me to bring it in. I was able to start the vehicle back up again and the truck was fine, on the freeway the same thing happen so I drove on the frontage road. The dealer could not service it due to 3 days worth of work to be done. I was taking it home and the same issue happened again. We finally got it to another dealer and it continued to snow, I went back to get something out of the truck and the back seats of the truck were wet and I could see water on the second row. I am hoping that its not wiring issues do to issues with water leakage from the moon roof of our truck that we found while searching on youtube. I hope gm recalls the sunroof/ moon roof issues with the leakage that might be harming the wires inside the truck.

After taking my vehicle to phil moore Buick GMC on 10/16/2014 and paying $1341. 10 for repairs after a check engine light indicator, the check engine light came on again on 10/20/2014 and caused the vehicle to slow from 60 miles per hour to 20 miles per hour on the highway. When the vehicle was returned to the dealership on10/21/2015, I was told there were additional repairs needed on the engine at an estimated cost of $2789. 18. Because repairs had just been completed on the same area 5 days earlier, I called the gm corporation and I was informed that repairs to the engine should have been covered under a recall and the dealership should have noticed the recall at the time of service.

Just purchased 2007 GMC Acadia 2 weeks ago and discovered a major sunroof leak. The leak is very bad. Then I found out this is a major problem for this make and model vehicle. I am very disappointed because now I am stuck with a vehicle that I am making payments on with a problem that I'm sure will lead to other major problems.

While driving in the rain my 2007 GMC Acadia slt-2 started to leak. It was leaking at the top of the passenger side door post, drivers side air bag on the molding near the windshield, passenger side near the floor(by the glove box) and from my factory installed dvd player. It continues to leak after rain.

Was raining hard and coming home when the rear overhead light started leaking water out and into the interior of the car.

Recently I noticed one of my daytime running lights was not working so when I scheduled my vehicle for service I asked the gm dealer to replace the light. Upon their investigation the dealer reported that the headlight wires had fused or melted together and that it would an estimated $800 to fix! they also mentioned the other lamp was starting to have the same issue and its only a matter of time. I was more concerned that the wires lamp/light wires were "fused" together and shorting out! this seams to be more of a safety issue with the risk of fire or loss of both headlights! furthermore, it is outrageous for a replacement of a daytime running light to be $800 dollars! can NHTSA please investigate and help resolve this safety hazard and poor product performance and look at the risk analysis that was performed?.

Water leaking in car causing poor visibility and unsafe conditions as it drips all over, down the windshield, and out of the lights and dvd monitor.

We were heading home from ft. Davis and while trying to accelerate the engine would just rev and it didn't seem like the gears were shifting. We were going at least 60 mph and trying to accelerate to the speed limit. I had contacted onstar while we were driving and the diagnostics confirmed that is was the transmission/power train. We eventually ended up in pecos, TX at a GMC dealership, who told me, and onstar, that there was nothing they could do because they were already closing for the day. We got there before noon and they still didn't want to run tests or anything, but they did say I could leave my vehicle and they could work on it come Monday. We had put transmission fluid in to see if that would help, but once we started the car we noticed that the car would not reverse. Needless to say my transmission needs to be rebuilt. . . We were able to get my car back home and two repair shops both confirmed that. The second guy even said that he's had to rebuild/replace at least 4 transmissions and I had missed the recall by one year. Funny thing is I don't even remember being notified of any transmission recall, but I have received others. I haven¿t even found any online. Obviously this is an ongoing and dangerous problem that needs to be addressed ASAP!.

I was driving about 35mp and I tried to accelerate but couldn't, it was if my gears were stuck and I was driving an automatic! the car was revving like crazy and driving very funny and all I could do was slow down and there were cars behind me honking and tailing me! there was no side of the road to pull off to so I prayed and was able to make it to a gas station parking lot and called my husband. He came to my rescue and we called chevy dealership for help. The reverse went out in the Acadia and my husband had to push it in reverse so we could limp it down to the dealership (driving under 30mp) they said the transmission went out. We did purchase an extended warranty but that has since expired so we have to pay out of pocket. We keep up on maintaining the vehicle so we were shocked that the transmission went out when I was driving, there was no warning at all! I was scared that my girls and I would be hurt! we were quoted between $3,500 or $4,800 for either rebuilding or replacing transmission. Many reviews say that even though others have paid to re-do their transmissions on GMC Acadia that it eventually happens again. We can't afford to get rid of Acadia (many payments still) but I feel unsafe keeping it. Others should be aware of the problem in case it happens to them. I've never been so scared or felt so unsafe before.

While my wife and I were on our way to court to finalize the adoption of a baby girl the transmission in my 2007 GMC Acadia went out with no warning. We were driving down a 2 lane road going over a bridge when it went out. We now have it in the shop waiting to see how much it is going to cost to repair. I was looking on here to see if there were any recalls on the transmission since it went out without warning to find that this seems to be a common problem with this year model of the Acadia. I cant figure out why gm will not compensate all or part of the cost since this is an obvious problem with the year model. If there is any compensation available or recourse we can take please let us know.

My wife was driving the vehicle on a local highway at approximately 60 mph when she felt a jerk in the vehicle. She was approaching a stoplight that had turned red and therefore was applying the brake. When she attempted to accelerate the vehicle would not move. The highway is very busy at the time of the incident and she was in danger of being struck by another vehicle. She was finally able to get the vehicle in gear and turn onto a side road and phone for assistance. The vehicle was able to be driven home after sitting for a short time, however I attempted to move the vehicle out of my garage and could not get in gear.

While driving at approximately 25 mph vehicle was shifting very hard. The vehicle cointinued to have issue shifting. At another time was driving vehicle and stopped at a traffic light. Upon light turning green pushed on the accelerator and the vehicle would not go, transmission would not shift into gear. Vehicle has 83,000 miles and now the transmission needs to be replace. Seems to be a frequent issue with this vehicle model. Gm should recall this transmission!!.

On Monday, with my children in the car, I started noticing that the car was not shifting correctly. I did not think much about it. Then on the wed of that week as I was driving in a major city downtown area for the morning commute, the engine light came on. . . I was at a stop tried to accelorate and the rpm's reved. Stepped on the gas and the car would only go 1 to 2 miles an hour then speed up . . . Dealer said that there were "many parts in the pan" and that I needed to have transmission replaced. $3600 plus tax or have it rebuilt $3300 plus tax. Called gm after reading the various post on edmunds about the Acadia problems. They were very nice and opened a claim but as of yet, no one ever called me back. When they opened the claim they said someone would be in touch within 2 business days (and they would see what they could do on saving me some money on the bill) as I was due back at the dealership to pick up my car.

Transmission failure due to faulty factory issued wave plate. This should have been a recall as gm appears to be very aware of this problem in most early year model Acadias. The price tag alone is $4,000+. . . Not to mention a rental car and making payments on an undrivable vehicle while it sits for who knows how long since the transmission is on national back order because its such a common problem.

My computers and cell phones were hacked and the harassment didn't stop until I disconnected onstar . I never had a account to this . Transmission went out during the harassment they knew and heard everything I did.

After a rainstorm or contact with water on the outside of the vehicle, the vehicle's roof leaks tremendously, near front sunroof and windshield column on passenger side, and around the rear sunroof. This problem has been fixed over 3 times by a gm dealer under warranty, but now the car is not under warranty and I will be paying for the repairs, and the repairs don't really repair the problem. My vehicle's interior and ac now smells like mold/mildew, and I am greatly concerned for the healthy of myself and my family.
