1 Hatchback/liftgate problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Acadia. After opening the electronic rear liftgate, the door would inadvertently close. The contact indicated that the vehicle was serviced in 2016 per NHTSA campaign number: 15v415000 (structure). The door actuator software was updated, but the failure still occurred. The local dealer (coral springs GMC in coral springs, FL) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 100,000.

2 Hatchback/liftgate problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2016

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Acadia. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired for a recall pertaining to the liftgate, support struts, and reprogramming of the computer. After the repair, the ability to automatically close the liftgate was inoperable because the motor stopped working. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was invalid. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.
