Deer hit me on the highway at 2am on December 26th. No air bags deployed.
Check engine light came on for the tcm. Car has had issues shifting (very rough shifting) and the manual shift option does not work. Was told the tcm had to be replaced. Attempt was made to replace it with a refurbished tcm but that couldn't be programmed to the car. Was then told I would have to buy a brand new one, which is very expensive, and that there was no guarantee that would fix the problem. Car can not be driven over 20mph without risking burning up the transmission. Car also jerks forward very hard when trying to gently accelerate.
The headlights don't work even after replacing. It rains in the vehicle from the sunroof. The gas tank isn't registering even after fixing it. So the engine doesn't know how much to put out etc etc and it makes the car jerk horribly. This vehicle is a fire hazard due to raining inside on everything upfront. I have kids I pray nothing happens!!.
Sunroof is clogged rain has gotten inside vehicle soaked up the floors the interior up by the sunroof. GMC made rhis midel horribly and they don't have enough people filing or just don't care. It messes up the electrical system. They need ro recall the sunroof. Recall electrical system along with it. Sunroof is clogged.
The rpms skyrocketed while driving and as the car was pulled over it caught fire. The fire dept said it took place in the electrical part of the motor and burned through the fuel line. Igniting the fuel.
Purchased new, have had the following problems 2011 :water pump failed, and engine oil leak new pump and gaskets,2012: oil pressure sensor replaced, 2013: wave plate broken sent metal through transmission major transmission repair, front and rear a/c failed and needed replacement. 2014: master cylinder leaking - replaced. 2016: purge solenoid stuck open was replaced, oil leak- timing cover leaking (did not replace- too expensive)- multiple calls to GMC and dealing with the dealer not satisfied and feel the car is a safety risk.
I have had service air bag lights come on all the time along with service stabletrack and and I think something with the fuel when I get gas it makes weird sounds and won't start without pumping the gas to get it started.
Driving car on freeway and it caught on fire, no previous issues that would cause the fire. Front of car and engine compartment caught on fire.
Bought vehicle with only 23k miles on it, transmission started acting up within 6 months of driving it, taken to a dealer, said nothing wrong, another year later got worse, took it in to a different dealer, nothing wrong, 6 months later took it in before going on vacation, nothing wrong, but had problems while on vacation, 6 months later, 1,500 miles away from home on vacation, driving down a 75 mile an hour speed limit divided highway, transmission went out with no warning, no dash warning, took in to a transmission dealer (since we couldn't get into a dealer) and said we wouldn't make it home the way it was. 5 grand later and a mess of a vacation later we were on our way home. Less than 3 months later, tighten gas cap light on dash, check tire pressure light on and check engine light on. Found out online that this model and make and year had numerous issues with transmission, don't understand how there was no recall and how gm got away with it. Oh, and we were under extended warranty in the beginning where they said nothing wrong, and as soon as warranty was expired, boom! transmission had to be fixed! transmission dealer said the damage was from a cheap 15. 00 part that caused us to have to spend 5 grand while on vacation. We have all shop paperwork showing the paper trail what we tried to get fixed.
This is the second time I have had the same issue. I am driving the vehicle and the transmission does not shift out of 2nd gear. The check engine light comes on. I have the vehicle repaired once for this issue. I was told it was the valve body the first time and it was replaced out of warranty.
My 2008 GMC Acadia gave me the scare of my life. I purchased my vehicle just last month and was very proud, I have been dreaming of this car for a while. However while traveling to my sons track meet my Acadia started jerking as if it was not getting any gas and the engine started making a loud humming or buzzing noises on farm market 521. The car slowed down to about 25 miles. Despite my continuing to press the gas pedal. I ended up jerking my way onward with my hazards on. I had cars screeching and flying around me. My kids and I are a nervous wreck. The 521 does not have a shoulder to pull off on. Miles later varying speeds as low as 15 and up to 35 mph I found a gas station (thank god) & pulled over. I powered down waited a few minutes then restarted the car. It started normally but I noticed I could not go into reverse while trying to leave the parking lot. I made my way forward all seemed well but 3-4 minutes into driving on 521 the same thing happened and now my check engine light is on. I started to panic I'm not familiar with the area. This is my first time here & the 521 is the only major road on my gps. I put-putted along and finally made it to the track meet in the middle of nowhere. Called my husband to come and check the car. After his look around he thinks my transmission is going out. He took the children in the suburban while I drove slowly ahead. Then I get a new message - engine hot idle something - I freak out and pull off as soon as I could. He ended up towing me home. I am one week past the 30 day warranty this sucks. I really love my Acadia & am very possessive of her, no one else can drive her, I don't want my kids to touch her. I take excellent care of her, she is clean, driven with love, but just don't understand what happened. I'm scheduling to take her to the shop in the morning, husbands mad but I'm hoping this can be resolved quickly.
At driving speed it was noticed that Acadia began to fail to shift gears, basically on highway it is stuck in first gear and after finding a place to stop, it will now not go into reverse. Have found the edmunds, ask and numerous other sites are full of transmission complaints concerning the 2008 Acadia and it's failures. This transmission has had minor issues in past, minor leak and some whining, but this is a complete and hazardous failure while driving in traffic. I have since learned that this is a common and known issue to general motors costing the consumers approx. $3000 to $3500 per instance. Is there nothing to be done to assist the consumers?.
GMC Acadia was bought in January 2008. Has been back 4 times for propane smell that comes into the car from through the vents. It mostly happens when I stop for a red light. The fumes seem to back up into the car. Catalytic converter and exhaust system was switch out but it continues to happen even after 7000 miles. Have called gm corp as well as dealer to complain that the smell is making me sick. Doctor notes have been sent to dealer and corp but still not resolved. I drive with my windows open even if it 20 degrees.
