Fuel take indicator fluctuates not giving an accurate reading of actual gas in tank. It will read 3/4 tank and after turning off and back on again it will read on "e". We do not park on a hill we have a flat driveway/garage. This happens anywhere I go. I have almost ran out of gas numerous times because of this.
While driving my 2011 Acadia the low fuel light came on, I go to fill up and there's 3/4 of a tank still full. The next morning I still had a low fuel reading and now a serivce engine light. This has happened multiple times since. This problem with the fuel and/or computer systems causing a false low fuel reading and service engine light has been recalled on other year models, but not 2011. Is there something that can be done to expand the recall? or will GMC correct the issue because it has been recalled on other year models?.
The contact owns a 2011 GMC Acadia. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled and failed to restart after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnostic testing and the contact was informed that the vehicle was low on fuel. The contact was unaware that the vehicle was low on fuel due to an inaccurate display on the fuel gauge. The technician stated that the fuel gauge failed and the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
