1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2025

I was driving along [xxx] . I stopped at walmart and shopped for about 2 hours. I was leaving walmart and was stopped at a red light at the exit from walmart [xxx] and traction control light comes on and a message came up and stated traction control off and to service stability control and the vehicle loses power right at the light. I checked everything I could and dis connect the battery for about 30 minutes and connected the battery back up vehicle still would not start. After sitting there for 3 hours the vehicle starts up. A week later the same thing happens again. I had to go through all the steps again so after a couple of hours. The vehicle started up. A few days later it happens shin but this time I'm at a stop sign on a busy road. I called road side service for a tow. No one showed up so I went through ll those same steps of disconnecting the battery and hooking it back up after a couple of hours and it stated up. I drove it home and started doing some research and found something saying to change the brake pedal position sensor so I done that and it worked for a few days and started doing the same thing all over again. S week later I drive it to the store and got almost home and the vehicle shut down again and would not start back up. I had it towed to my uncle shop nd he done a diagnostic on it and got about 4 or 5 codes. All of those things are very expensive to purchase. I just ran the VIN to check for recalls on the vehicle but couldn't find any but it should have been a lot of recalls because there are so many of these vehicles the exact same model and year with trouble with stability control nd brake and traction control issues. All the issues they hd on this car tht I have should not have been sold to anyone except the manufacturer. I wish I could just get my money back that I paid for it. $4700. 00 not included in the work I had done like the cv axles replace on both sides in the front. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2025

Vehicle producing code p2138 then goes into limp mode stating to service stability, traction control off and engine reduced power. Replaced throttle body and acceleration pedal position sensor and error was still present.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2025

This 2012 GMC Acadia denali with close to 160k has been in the shop several times due to it randomly stalling out it kept basically locking me out from starting the car a "service anti-theft system" would flash across the dash followed by a flashing check engine light along with a lock and key symbol. A local gm repair shop had it in 3 times for them to tell me they couldn't figure it out or get the vehicle to "act up" they cut me two new keys and tightened up what they claimed to be loose battery cables just for the vehicle to die/stall with a no crank no start happen literally 10 minutes down the road after paying almost 600$ for repairs and that it was towed back 3 times for the same issue spanning over two months of them not being able to figure out the issue. Salvador ended up replacing the anti-theft control module after the 3rd time having to tow it back and forth just to leave the shop and I couldn't start the vehicle the next day after handing over almost another 400$ and less than 15/20 miles of drive time. Gm needs to get this issue figured out!!! there anti-theft system locks people out from starting their vehicles more than it does actually preventing actual theft. This will eventually end up causing a major crash at an intersection or highway if the anti-theft system keeps failing it just randomly cuts out power to the engine while driving.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2023

The car shutdown mid-driving do due to a power system issue, which was dangerous on the highway. I had the car battery and the alternator replaced and it did the same thing again 8 months later. Says the battery system needs servicing.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2023

I have a 2012 GMC Acadia denali with about 147,000 miles on it and the "service air bag" light is on I brought it somewhere to have the code read and the said there is about 5 different codes popping up for the issue. . . I've called auto shops around me locally and can't find anyone that is willing to look at it. I just want to know what my best options are as to getting this issue resolved. As I have never been in an accident so I don't know why the air bag light is on.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2023

No warning light when transmission went out. Traction control/stabiltrac service light came on, doors locking and unlocking, not stating what gear Acadia was in. Check engine light eventually came on, after it stalled twice on highway. Vehicle is at GMC dealership service department and they are saying its not communicating and are checking wiring harness wires. I have replaced transmission and torque converter and now I dont know what to expect now. Only had it for 3 years so far. I almost got rear ended when it stalled twice before backfiring and a rough swift shift.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2022

The car stalled, cut off while pulling into traffic.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2022

The automatic passenger side window does not work anymore, it went out a couple months after I bought it. I have always done maintenance on my vehicle, oil changes, tires, etc. And the timing chain went out on it for some unknown reason. Very pricey to fix. I would hate to be stranded with my 6 grandchildren with. With all the complaints on the timing chain, this should be a recall.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2021

Instrument cluster malfunctions while driving. All gauges stop responding and automatic controls become disabled. All dashboard gauges become disabled and unresponsive and looses information. The dashboard light brightens to day mode. Automatic light system, cruise control, automatic lock system, blinker indicator, radio, dvd player, seat belt signal, driver door buttons, and holographic display become disabled. Information reads park assist off, service air bags, check gauges and all fault lights display. Issues occur while driving and relatively. The onset, frequency and duration of issues fluctuate at random.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/25/2019

While driving my GMC Acadia the car started loosing power, it then gave a message that said traction control off/on it also had stability track message.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2019

Daytime running lights constantly need replaced, melting/shattering/cracking on headlight assemblies (both) most likely electrical issue causing it to heat up.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2019

Water collects inside the electrical connections between the doors and body. Eventually causes no sound from all speakers except the small tweeters on the a pillars. Then the warning beeping from backup sensor cannot be heard. This puts pedestrians in danger especially when it first happens and drivers are not aware of the problem yet. They are expecting it to beep if someone like a child suddenly crosses behind the vechile. This is a common problem on all gm lambda models since 2008. 13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2019

On March 22, 2019, I was driving home from work on rte. 130, again in the fast lane, I hear that famous beep again, but knew I did not require gas. My vehicle read to service stable track once again and traction control off. My truck dropped down to basically no power in the fast lane on a major highway. Thank god I said my prayers that day, and three cars that almost plowed into the back of my truck and any accidents were avoided. I was able to put on my hazard lights, once again, and make my way over to the shoulder of the highway and was able to get my truck into a shopping center parking lot. I had the gas pedal all the way down to the floor, but my truck was moving at about 10 miles per hour. Nowhere!! I was scared but relieved because it could have been worse. I could have caused a major accident, or even been hurt. I contacted my dealership t&t coast in sea girt, and expressed to them my problem. I told them I just had this stable track/sensor replaced just a year ago, I should not be facing the same issue. They made false promises, promised to get me into a more reliable vehicle, but it did not work out due to my current credit issues. I ask if they could not get me into a more reliable truck, could they at least fix the issue that I thought was just repaired by the service department. They told me no, it was my issue because of the high mileage on the car. I have learned that a stable track/sensor or traction control is supposed to last the life span of your vehicle. It should not go due to wear and tear or high mileage. I also did additional investigation on my end, and learned that GMC has been having this same issue with many other customers, along with electrical issues.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2019

We bought this used car from a dealer drove it about 4 to 5 months and the left signal light failed, so we changed it worked for one day and then went dead again. Turning left from my street the steering was really hard and had problems turning left but I did finally on another occasion the same thing happened. Finally driving suddenly we saw a turn engine off and the engine started making loud noises and went dead in the middle of the street. So we kept gliding with no engine running and went into a parking lot. Lucky for us the car stopped right in the parking lot. Had to be towed few miles to a mechanic that told us the timing chain is broken and in need for new engine. We towed it to another mechanic and the same thing was told. So now it is been sitting at the mechanic's shop for two week waiting for new engine to come in . I can not believe that around 84000 miles this car needs a new engine and it is not cheap at all. The car has a salvage tilte but this does not have anything to do with the problems since too many people have been documenting this problem, steering, electrical and failed engine. Why gm did not recall these cars for these failure. They are putting people and families at risk and we are stuck with the repairs and the bills piling up.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2018

Wipers suddenly stopped during a heavy rain at highway speeds. My wife and three children were on board. The stud that connects the wiper linkage to the motor had broken. Upon researching this, gm had issued a recall to affected vehicles in states that received heavy snowfall, west virginia was included and was where this vehicle spent most of its life. After calling gm they told me they couldn't do anything for me since the vehicle is now garaged in tennessee.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2018

My low beam head lights keep blowing over the past two years, I have had to replace them 5 times on the driver side and 2 times on the passenger size. Also had my head light harness replaced oct due the blub breaking in multiple pieces. Jan of 2019, it rained and my turning signal blub broke again and the lighting component filled up with water and looked like a floating fish bowl.

Failure Date: 10/06/2017

With the vehicle is stationary, I opened the power lift gate, it opened completely, and suddenly fee fell about 1 to 2 feet, stiking me and my 6 month old son in the head. I have repeated this operation multiple times standing clear of the lift gate and it continues to do the same thing everytime. It is not safe to access the cargo area of my vehicle until this is repaired. I called the GMC dealer in bunkie, la to see if it was covered under the 2012 GMC Acadia recalls for power lift gate malfunctioning, and they said it wasn't covered. I disagree.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2017

My windows will roll down on their own while going down the road. I can only roll the windows up and down intermittently while parked and in motion. While driving stability control will turn itself off and blow some sort of gas through the air conditioning vents in the car, then it will start shuddering and slowing down the car to the point I have to pull over. After that issue started, my a/c will only work intermittently as well.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2017

After getting lift gate recall when opened all the way a loud pop would happen. Was told struts worn. Didn't do it before. As of 1 day ago lift gate will open little more than half way then just start closing on its own. It cannot be stopped. Before when it bumped something it would stop or open back up. Now there is no stopping it. If a child wear able to get between it when this happens it would kill them. I was parked trying to get something out of the back of the car.
