The contact stated that upon reaching her destination and shifting the vehicle into park, the vehicle failed to recognize that the shifter was in the park position. As a result, the vehicle displayed a warning message reading, "action required, please shift to park," and the contact was unable to lock the vehicle's doors until the failure resolved on its own. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 44,000.
