Several times the automatic emergency braking (aeb) was activated unnecessarily. Twice were at a 4-way stop. I was turning left with a stationary car (#1) across the intersection waiting to proceed next. As I got part of the way through the turn, the aeb reacked to the car (#1) and engaged. Slowing my car and almost brought it to a full stop in the middle of the intersection. I now drive the car with aeb disabled.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Acadia. The message "front assist blocked" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a camera failure. The camera was replaced; however, the failure recurred while the contact was driving an hour later. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the repair could not be covered under the warranty because the warranty had expired; however, the contact stated that the warranty would expire in August. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.
