GMC Acadia owners have reported 70 problems related to suspension (under the suspension category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of GMC Acadia based on all problems reported for the Acadia.
Rear right hand lower suspension control arm broke in half, after further inspection it looks to have been separated from its original factory form which then cause uneven load on the arm causing it to fracture in half. The factory form separation seems to have been ongoing for unknown time due to surface rust is visible at the factory mold separation, where it snapped in half there is no surface rust. Fortunately it happened when I was only moving the vehicle to make space for another, the broken arm cause the wheel to turn to the right as if it was making a right hand turn and I can't imagine if it would have happened while driving in the city of even worse on the freeways. . . It would be a certain crash and safety for us and those driving around us. Last photo is from amazon listing, I did order the part from another source that is a factory gm part and I am doing the repairs of replacing this myself as I am mechanically inclined. Thanks.

I took my 2019 GMC Acadia in for an inspection and was informed that the toe links were loose and fail inspection. Upon researching this failure, I found that there is a recall for this, but my VIN was no included. I don't understand why not given what I'm seeing from other owners. I quote from the GMC authority site: https://gmauthority. Com/blog/2022/06/GMC-acadia-Cadillac-xt5-and-xt6-recalled-for-loose-suspension-toe-link/ "gm and the national highway traffic safety administration have issued a recall for certain 2022 model-year Cadillac xt5, Cadillac xt6 and GMC Acadia crossovers over an issue related to the rear toe links. The problem: affected vehicles may have a left-rear suspension toe link with a fastener that was not properly tightened during assembly at the factory. The GMC Acadia is built at the gm spring hill plant in tennessee, but will soon be moved to the gm lansing grand river plant to make room for the Cadillac lyriq. The Cadillac xt5 and xt6 are also built at spring hill and will remain there for the foreseeable future. " based on other feedback seen, it appears this should be a recall for my vehicle as well.

On July 26, 2024, I was driving my 2018 Acadia, with my cruise control set to 48 in a 45 mhp zone. Nearing a bad curve, I sneezed. When this happened, I tapped the brakes to disengage the cruise control, my passengers side tires exited the road and with both hands on the wheel I tried to slowly bring my tires back to the road. However, I was unable to gain control and totaled the vehicle. A witness stated that she heard a loud pop coming from the vehicle before the wreck happened. I later learned from my insurance that the vehicle had a recall 17v516000 on it and I was never made aware of it. I believe that this was a factor in me not being able to control the vehicle.
2024 brand new Acadia denali trim with 1k miles was brought in to the dealership because of 'popping' and 'grinding' noise when turning, most loudest when turning to and from the right. It was also very much felt on the steering wheel. Dealer took apart the front right strut assembly and said that it was not 'installed' properly, causing the springs to hit the fender everytime the wheels turned. They inspected it said that nothing needed to be replaced, installed it properly, test drove it and determined that it was fixed. Driving home, I sped through potholes and bumps, especially during turns, to really test their repairs. Luckily, the sound was gone, steering was smooth. And I hope it stays that way. Out of curiosity, I took a picture of the strut assembly post repair you can see the coil is bulging out of place from the strut. This is only in the right side. The pictures show the suspension with wheels fully turned to the right, left, and pointed straight. The picture even shows the part of the fender where the spring made contact with. I communicated in online groups of Acadia owners and they said it’s also the same issue, wherein that they experienced the symptoms themselves or the struts look misaligned already. I believe this is a concern GMC should address the soonest as it could lead to road hazards for everyone involved.

I have 43,000 miles on my car and I do not by any means drive hard or really ever go over 50 mph and I am being told that my rear tow links are loose and need to be replaced. I have never had to replace those in any vehicle I have ever owned especially a 2021 vehicle with under 50k miles on it. I have read that there is a recall on the 2022 Acadia's for this exact issue so I can only assume it is the same issue happening on the 2021's as well.

The rear knuckles have a casting defect that does not allow the lower most forward control arm bolt to be tightened fully. This causes the bolt to be 1/8” from being fully tightened. After removing the casting defect you are able to tighten the bolt fully. The bolt broke off in the knuckle causing the tire to point away from the body at a 45 degree angle. If my wife was on the interstate doing 60 when this happened it could have been life threatening but she was only doing about 10 when it snapped.

Service traction control and service stabilink light yes I will bring it in. It will turn on randomly at this point for about 4 months and the brakes are locking up the wheels while driving.

I took my 2014 GMC Acadia into the dealership I purchased it at because my airbag light was on. This was before the recall. I was told at that time that nothing was wrong and and I probably hit a bump and juggled something loose. I paid $190 for that. Now my vehicle is in the shop and I can no longer operate it or sell it because it is deemed unsafe due to this recall. I contacted GMC and there is no remedy for this. It has been 8 months. This is not timely. They would not offer a replacement, refund or a loaner vehicle. I recorded this call and received a case number. I believe this is against federal law. I then contracted the dealership I purchased the vehicle through and they will not provide a rental or repair or replace my vehicle either. N fact, they were trying to get me to do $4,000 in repairs. This may fall under the lemon law and I contacted an attorney. Some people have been without vehicles 8 months now since this recall occurred. This is absurd. I had one vehicle that now I cannot use. I need to be made whole. I have 5 children. Who is responsible? I will not stop until I get compensated. There are a total of 6 recalls out on my car. Only one has been closed. The seatbelt. The other recalls could cause major damage to expensive components like the engine and transmission. The euc was under recall and was never fixed in my vehicle also. I found this out through a search on kbb. Com. This may have in turn caused more out of pocket expenses.

The vehicle part involved is the right rear suspension adjust toe link. I did not ask the gm dealer to save the old part. The old part is not available for inspection. The replacement gm part number placed on the vehicle is 84606181. On December 4, 2023 during the annual state inspection of my vehicle the gm dealer advised me that the right rear suspension part listed above showed wear in the bushing and the vehicle fails the state inspection because this is a safety issue. In order to pass the state required safety inspection I would need to have the suspension part replaced. This part controls how the vehicle tracks down the road when driven to prevent vehicle swaying from side to side. Since the gm dealer inspected and confirmed the above I authorized the dealer to replace the worn out part and also perform a wheel alignment as recomended by the gm dealer. Prior to the info provided above their were no warnings, noises, or signs that the right rear toe link bushing was warn to the extent that it required replacement. This first notice I had on the potential problem with my vehicles suspension is described above. I was advised that the above part is a common part that requires replacement on my type of vehicle.
Im getting new tires on my car and was told the alignment cannot be done due to the rear tow links needing replaced. I was told it's a known issue with Acadias and should be covered under a recall I called my dealership and it's not a recall.
Suspension did not meet yearly state inspection standards. Service advisor/technician stated “control arm bushing deteriorated- excessive play”. Rear control arms could be moved with hand pressure excessive play. They stated that this is a very common problem with this make of car at this mileage (41,633).
The toe links on my vehicle are bad and needs to be replaced. They broke as I was driving. Almost caused me to lose control and almost wreck. Thankfully there were no other cars around. I see this is a recall for GMC’s but for some reason not my VIN number. Not understanding why if I have the same problem on vehicles that were recalled.
The vehicle is a 2019 GMC Acadia with 45,255 highway miles on it. On 1/5/23, I took the vehicle to the GMC dealer for a routine pennsylvania state inspection. I was told that the vehicle's rear toe links were loose and that I would not pass the state inspection unless they were replaced. Upon some research, I found out that it is unlikely that toe links would be loose on a 4 year old car with 45k miles on it. Furthermore, to my knowledge, what causes threads within the toe link to loosen is improper adjustment. The first and last toe link adjustment was made as it was manufactured by general motors. Looking into the issue, I noticed there was a number of other people online complaining about the same issue. Having no choice but to repair the vehicle in order to have a legal vehicle to drive, I was charged over $800 which included a wheel alignment which I was told was necessary after replacing the rear toe links. In addition, I noted that there was a recall for GMC Acadia vehicles manufactured from December 2021 to March 2022 regarding the same exact issue, and as you know, loose toe links can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of crashing and thus putting my daughter's safety and other people's safety at risk. There were no warnings or signs of the toe link ever being loose prior to this inspection.
Persistent groaning and creaking from front end suspension. Dealer repair shop could not diagnosis issue however there is a repair bulletin published on this issue at gmrepairinsights. Com which leads me to believe this is a known defect with the suspension of this car and other similar models. The defect as described in the repair bulletin may lead to mechanical failure of important part of suspension which could lead to injuries or harm to other drivers. I scheduled a service appointment on 12. 28. 2022 and the dealer could not identify the source of the problem.
My steering rack and pinion as well as my power steering pump have gone out completely potentially put me in harms way by impairing my ability to drive defensively. By greatly reducing the vehicles reaction time . A worn steering rack can cause you to lose partial or complete control over your car steering wheel, which can lead to fatal accident. That goes without saying that steering rack is a major car maintenance procedure and is expensive. When they perform defectively, it can spell trouble and make your steering faulty and unreliable—this is what happens when the rack and pinion goes out. And I believe it goes without saying that the power steering pump is just as an intricate part of your design as is the rack and pinion they go hand-in-hand, and the potentially damage each other. In this case, they both went out. . I believe it’s well documented across many platforms, similar issues with the same model. Document to the skyline motors in rawlins, wyoming. At the time there was no warning lights are indicators on the instrument panel whatsoever.
The contact owns a 2011 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, she heard an abnormal noise from the rear passenger side tire. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer but was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

The vehicle makes a clunk and pop noise when making turns and upon acceleration and deceleration. Both dealer and repair shop could not visually locate the problem after checking. Suggested the problem was internal. Vehicle purchased March 2022 with 63,500 miles.
Unknown.
The contact owns a 2021 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving approximately 65-70 mph, the driver’s side rear spring detached and almost caused a collision. The dealer was made aware of the failure and it was arranged for the vehicle to be towed to the dealer for diagnosis. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the dealer prior to the failure after the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. However, the dealer could not replicate the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.
1. )what component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? a. ) to start with I went in to the dealership for a timing chain recall they said the work was performed. This was never done all they did was replace ecu from an older car so that the code would not come back (replaced with a 2002 ecu) to get rid of the timing chain recall code. This code never existed in 2002. . Complete negligence these SUV could hurt or kill someone b. )huge electrical issue SUV stops on its own while driving. Sometimes does not start at all. Can not pass emission for the life of it . . New codes all the time I have replaced just about every sensor and switch there is. . . This is a money pit and death trap. . C. ) the investigation NHTSA should have included the lambda frame it's the same design flaw they're trying to fix one problem with an old problem. The ones on these have this fixed tie rods, lateral arms and upper control arms the bushings will wear out eventually and repeat the bouncing up and down rocking back and forth rear end barely staying on the ground it's a very dangerous ride and you see these vehicles on the expressway on a daily basis you look at them for what you know now I get really nervous seeing these vehicles. Arcadia rollovers call it what you will it's the same problem the needs a total redesign it's defective anyway you look at it. Just looking to how many roll over there are with this body frame and suspension it's got its own self-contained pit maneuver. I believe gm is aware of these issues that's why they're giving everybody a hard time to fix it they run and say something else. Looks like we're getting back to too big to fail. D. ) what makes this vehicle even more unsafe and very dangerous is the fact that the reluctor wheel can slip. This will sundown false dtc codes thinking that problems exist other places spending lots of money an unnecessary work when along gm knew about this problem once again.
The service stability track warning will come on while driving. It will then make the SUV shut off. This is really terrifying since it happens while driving. After the SUV shuts off, you have to wait a couple minutes before you're able to restart. The last two months, the service airbag warning will come up on the screen out of no where. It will come on while driving and setting stationary. Water will pour out from the glove box while driving.

The contact owns a 2011 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the subframe underneath the driver’s side felt loose and not properly aligned. The contact merged to the right lane and continued to drive the vehicle. The contact stated that her son and daughter drove the vehicle and noticed the failure as well. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a local pep boys who replaced all four tires and performed a 4-wheel alignment; however, the failure had been reoccurring and was more noticeable while making turns and driving around curves. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
Took car in for oil change. Got it back and front struts were stuck extended. Took back next day said they were bad. We replaced on 2/02/2018 with 72945 miles with gm replacement part number 22902412. Could easily lose control. Had to lower tire pressures to get back to dealer. Replaced again on 10/1/2020. What keeps from happening again?.
At 89,000 the "service all wheel drive" light came on several times on dash. Mechanic states that "rear differential drum" needs to be replaced in order for vehicle's all wheel drive system to operate properly.
I started having steering problems when I would slow down to make a turn on a city street. The steering was very tight. Unsafe condition without warning. I had the power steering unit replaced, then I was told the rack and pinion had metal in them and needed to be replaced. Mechanic was unable to flush out the metal. I picked up the car today after a cost of $2,2oo. Drove home on city streets, same problem only tighter turning. Called the mechanic and was told to return the car. Just luck I have another car to drive. Should be a recall on this very unsafe condition.
Shift to park problem, the dealer tried fixing it 3 times now and having a problem with the wheel. When sometimes turning the car. I can feel something is like stock on tge wheel making me feel like the wheel is gonna get off. I trued contacting the dealer and chevy office for a buyback but they aren't approving it cos they said I dont have enough reason for them to approve it. Even tho I keep telling them I am not gonna wait for anything bad to happen since I have a 5 month old baby with me. Tge obly thing they suggesting is having it checked. And that's it.
My service traction control and service stablilitrek comes on while I'm driving which is very because the car jerks when trying to drive at a certain speed. And when I go around a curve the stablilitrek active come on and the car makes a humming noise.
Tl the contact owns a 2007 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that he purchased the vehicle two months ago. On the first day, the vehicle had transmission failure and the transmission overheating indicator appeared. The vehicle started to slow down and sputter while driving. In addition, the vehicle had difficulty accelerating from a stop. While driving 75 mph, the transmission overheating indicator illuminated again. The contact had to pull over and allow the vehicle to idle for a while. The vehicle was taken to the car store of burley (1001 e main st, burley, id 83318, (208) 677-3800) and they stated that the contact overfilled the transmission fluid. The dealer drained and refilled the fluid. The contact also stated that the instrument cluster stopped working occasionally and was not repaired. The dealer test drove the vehicle and found no failure. In addition, the windshield wipers never worked and the driver and passenger side struts were faulty. Furthermore, the traction control was also malfunctioning. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 128,700.

This is the second complaint I have made has still have not heard anything. This is sad that it has not been dealt with. I hope my family is not in a serious accident because of this car.
Was found brake fluid in the brake booster vacuum hose and brake booster is leaking from master cylinder and being drawn into the brake booster .
Driving on highway and loss all powers to transmission at 65mph. Car would not move.
