Four problems related to service brakes have been reported for the 2001 GMC C2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Tl-the contact owns a 2001 GMC 2500 hd. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph and depressed the brake pedal, the brake pedal went to the floor and failed to stop the vehicle without warning. The contact engaged the emergency brake and put the vehicle in park. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed that the distributor brake block had excessive rust and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000. The VIN was unavailable. Sw.
When applying the brakes at low speeds the abs kicks on. I have researched this and there has been a recall from gm but my VIN number is not on the recall it falls under the year make and model and I only have 48,000 miles on the truck. The bulletin number is 05068c from gm.
We have a 2001 GMC 2500hd crewcab with the abs breaking problem. At slow speeds under 10 mph everytime you stop the abs activates not alowwing the truck to stop. Gm now has a recall on some models but refuses to fix this problem. This is my 19 yr olds sons truck this needs to be fixed by gm before he gets in an accident and kills himself or someone else. There are so many complaints on the internet about this problem. Why is there nothing being done with the vehicles outside of gm's recall. I am sick of company's making crap and not having to fix it.
2001 GMC 2500 hd abs goes off at low speed. Goes off 8 out of 10 times when stopping. Call dealer no recall on this product. Still driving until recall happens.
