general problems of the 2004 GMC Canyon

The frame has rust through and broke on rear front leafspring mount of frame on both side . A very know problem with almost every one of these trucks.

Rear frame has rusted completely out. Now sitting and cannot drive. I love driving this truck but now it is just sitting. Hope gm will sell me a frame at cost so I can fix it.

My 2004 GMC Canyon caught fire yesterday about 1:12 pm and burned up. The fire dept. Indicated a strong smell of gas. This event happened about 20 minutes after I arrived home in the vehicle. The fire was put out by the eastside fire dept under inciident number 17-1594. Their phone number is 425-313-3200.

Reduced power light came on, on the dashboard and I had no power. This has happened 4 times since July 2013. It has happened 2 times in April and now again. It is going back to the garage on tues. Getting ridiculous and expensive! when it is put on the scope it keeps coming up with the throttle position sensor fault.

I went to work this morning and my 2004 GMC Canyon truck was running fine, about 2 hours later I ran an errand, still no issues with the truck. Around 2:00pm I went to run another errand and smelt something like burning plastic, I opened my truck to find that my front passanger side door was smoldering. The truck was full of smoke and there is now a hole in the side of my door from where the flastic melted! I have no idea how this could have happened, but this is my only source of transportation and I often take my granddaughters on trips with me. I plan to take it to a GMC dealership and have them look at it so maybe they can tell me what caused this problem. Also, the back seats in this truch block a lot of the view out of the rear window causing major blind spots. Since I have only had this truck about 2 months I plan to address these issues and sell the darn truck!.
