Tl the contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2007 GMC Canyon. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact became nauseous. The contact pulled the vehicle off the roadway, exited the vehicle, and passed out for several minutes according to a witness. The driver experienced symptoms due to carbon monoxide poisoning. The contact attempted to move the vehicle once she regained consciousness, but became overwhelmed. The contact stopped the vehicle and, while attempting to retrieve documents from the glove box, she noticed flames inside the glove box. The contact exited the vehicle. The fire department was notified and was able to extinguish the fire; however, the vehicle was destroyed. A fire report was not filed. The driver was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The driver received oxygen for six hours to remove the carbon monoxide from her lungs. The vehicle was towed to a private lot. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,003.
