Seat Belt Problems of GMC Canyon

Seat Belt problem #1

Since new headlights have flicker. Took to dealership, they stated that this is a known problem with the 2024 headlights and they have no repair and gave the truck back. No date of repair promised or implied. The headlights are not just an immediate danger on for driver in truck but on coming traffic. I have been pulled over for "flashing" a police officer, flip off from other drivers that think I am flashing them. Please help the entire 2024 Canyon population as this is a common problem.

Unknown the GMC dealership refuses to repair recalls as they say, theres no recalls on the vehicle. There are 2 recalls and were not told of these recalls when purchasing.

Seat Belt problem #3

Seatbelt light for the front driver continues to turn on even when buckled in and will ding to notify that it’s not buckled despite it buckled in. This is a safety issue as the airbag light also remains on because of it.

Seat Belt problem #4

I was on dirt forest road that was not a trail, I went through a ditch at about 3mph and my side airbags blew. As a result the seatbelt pre tension device was also activated and the seat heaters no longer work.

The seat belts are very difficult to latch. It takes multiple attempts to get the seat belt locked in. I had a mechanic check and clean the buckle but it didn’t make an improvement and replacement was recommended. I have never had a seat belt buckle fail to easily latch. I am not the first owner and this issue has been ongoing.

Vehicle was involved in two vehicle accident. Driver airbag in 2016 Canyon failed to deploy upon impact with other vehicle. Accident occured on a city street in gulfport, ms. Was going straight at posted speed of 35mph, second vehicle failed to yield at cross street. "t" boned 2nd vehicle in driver door.

Tl- the contact owns a 2004 GMC Canyon. The contact was driving at 45 mph, and was hit from the rear which caused the contact to crash into the vehicle up front. The air bags did not deploy and the seat belt pre-tensioner failed to hold the contact in place, causing the contact's face to hit the steering wheel. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and carried out an investigation. The failure mileage was unknown. Jo.

The contact owns a 2008 GMC Canyon. The contact stated that the seat belt failed to latch. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the seat belt buckle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 129,000.

Seat Belt problem #9

Despite infrequent use and exceptionally low mileage, the passenger's seatbelt fails to retract. No accidents or safety-related incidents which would have locked the mechanism or otherwise engaged the belt beyond standard fastening and unfastening.

Seat Belt problem #10

2005 GMC Canyon driver side seat belt buckle does not stay latched. Jerking on the seat belt will unlatch the seat belt.
