All 5 tires including the spare are dry rotted, and have become extremely unsafe in wet weather conditions. Truck came with these tires and only has 27k miles with a lot of tread left.

I was driving at 65mph on the freeway when the right rear tire separated causing me to lose control of my 2006 GMC Canyon truck. I narrowly avoided crashing into the center divider, and the separated tire caused extensive damage to the right-rear bed panel. The tire was a cooper dakota ht size 31x10. 50r15l. I still have the tire, and it is available for inspection.

I purchased my GMC Canyon from j koons pontiac GMC in tysons corner, virginia in March 2004. I immediately began having issues with the general brand tires that were purchased with the vehicle. The tire was so weak that things such as dull rocks, nails, and even a toothpick punctures them. I could understand nails, even rocks, but a toothpick? koons did replace one of the four tires after repeated attempts by me to get this issues resolved. However, the tires continued to be a problem where I eventually chose to just replace them. Since then I have had no more issues with my tires except for an occasional nail. Now, recently I had to take my truck in for service due to my blower for my heating and air only working on high. Come to find out this issue was caused by a melted blower. Koons replaced this blower and I left. 1 week later the blower melted again. Only this time it wasn't covered under warranty anymore because the cause was a wire harness gone bad causing the blower to slip and melt from engine heat. How am I responsible for this? I have had numerous issues with my GMC as well on the interior with the cheap plastic used for the seat recliner, the "tool box" clips, the lumbar spine turn knob and more. I have not been impressed at all with the quality of my vehicle and will not purchase another gm vehicle.

I had just bought a used / reposessed 2005 GMC Canyon January 18, 2006 with 9100 approx miles on it. May the 3rd 2006 while going on interstate 20/59 in birmingham alabama approx 10:45 am, the driver side rear tire shredded on the interstate while I was driving 75 mph in a 70 zone. There was nothing in the highway struck on a sunny day. However I managed to get the vehicle off the interstate and to a tire repair place where upon inspecting the black rubber tore up the rear bed panel and damage the underneath tire weld area and the super structure. GMC was notified and the representative said someone with knowledge of tires would have to say the tire was defective. At the auto dealer body shop the adjuster person couldn't make a determination with the tire in front of him, he did take pictures, I also went to a tire specialist for the as 60 general tire p225 he said the same thing due to the damage. So I am at a stand still nevertheless this has cost me $500. 00 dollars on the deductible for my insurance CO. Nationwide to pick up the bill. I even told the GMC rep I had a dream after that incident Friday night into Saturday morning that the front tire shredded and I flipped the car and lost control and crash on the same stretch of interstate. I told him too that if that was to happen and I survive the media would be notified. Unless this has happen to you, you don't know the anxiety of driving wondering when this will happen again. After all the vehicle only had been driven approx 3000 miles when the incident happen and has left me with the feeling of wanting to get a foreign truck. This was told to the rep from GMC, the sad part about the whole situation is that as a lt. Firefighter paramedic first responder, I have stated what has happen and nothing moved gm it appears, says a lot about us having to testify when it apparently means more evidence is needed for me to believe and help you.

Shimmy, vibration, even small potholes jar the steering to either side.
Contact stated the tires wore out. The original front tires were replaced because they wore out from the inside. The replacement tires were also wearing out. The dealer did not offer any explanation for the tire wear. Updated 12/27/05.
My 2005 Canyon has only 258 miles on it and the truck wobbles/shakes at any speed above 45mph. I thought maybe it was just me but there are multiple on the Canyonfans. Com webs that are having the same problem.
