Failure Date: 06/14/2004

Driving under normal conditions a brake failure due to abs malfunction, called the GMC number and they said that while they have the problem on record ,it cant be fixed unless I pay out of poket expenses due to there policy limits complaints on this problem tobe repaired by the dealer up to 2002.

2 Air Brake Antilock problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2001

(1)no events leading to failure. (2)on numerous ocassions while braking the brakes made a buzzing sound and the pedal went to the floor, losing braking power. This problem has almost caused a few major accidents. I've researched and discovered there is a recall on my vehicle for this problem but GMC dealerships says there is not. (3) not fixed, dealership says there is nothing wrong.

3 Air Brake Antilock problem

Failure Date: 09/23/1999

Anti-lock brake unit went out. Dealer is quoting $1400 to fix. There are several anti-lock brake defects under investigation. This sounds like a recall item. There is only 56,000 miles on my vehicle and I don't feel that something like this should be going out that early.

4 Air Brake Antilock problem

Failure Date: 08/08/1999

Driving north on hy 101 north of bay city , weather clear , road dry at 2:30 pm , new tires. P/u truck stopped dead in front of me to avoid an accident. I thought I had enough room to completly stop and applied my breaks with firm steady pressure but ran into the rear of the p/u. No damage to him but his trailer hitch and steel bumper damaged my front end. Contacted local GMC dealer and he said the GMC recall on the abs did not pertain to my vehical. I feel that maybe it should.

5 Air Brake Antilock problem

Failure Date: 06/28/1999

I was charged with the accident but was not issued a summons. I believe the accident was due to the brakes.

6 Air Brake Antilock problem

Failure Date: 05/27/1998

On 5/27/98, I was in a vehicle accident in which I rear ended another vehicle, which caused damage to both vehicles. The vehicle I hit was a total loss. At the time of the accident I was traveling approximately 40 mph and when I put on the brakes my vehicle slid three car lengths (leaving skid marks on the pavement) and stopped when I hit the car in front of me. The sliding was intense and the smoke so thick that I thought my vehicle engine was on fire. I felt at the time that the abs system had malfunctioned, and I mentioned this to the police officer at the scene. When I took the vehicle to the local GMC dealer for collision repairs, I asked them to check the brake system. They indicated that there were not any problems with the brakes. The reason I am filing this claim is because I am a very careful driver who has never been involved in a motor vehicle accident. Up to this point in time I had a perfect driving record. The police record indicates that I told the police officer that I was "unable to stop in time". This accident has tarnished my perfect driving record and as a result of this my insurance rates have increased. As a side note, I have had the dealer fix the 4 wheel drive switch (under warranty) on two occasions because the vehicle would not switch from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive.

7 Air Brake Antilock problem

Failure Date: 05/07/1996

When pushing the brake pedal, in order to stop. It seems to be very soft. Also experiencing a delay when brakes are applied. Brake light came on once. Problem started after rear end was replaced.

8 Air Brake Antilock problem

Defective abs.
