Cruise Control problems of the 1997 GMC Jimmy

Two problems related to cruise control have been reported for the 1997 GMC Jimmy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2005

Owner was driving on the parkway at highway speed and the cruise control engaged on its own. The cruise control got stuck, and the vehicle continued to operate. Owner put the vehicle in o neutral, and the key was stuck into the ignition. Owner had the vehicle towed back to the dealer.

2 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2004

Defective engine and throttle for a 1997 gm Jimmy, VIN 1gkcs13w9v2570916. While attempting to deactivate the cruise control, by pressing the brake pedal, the vehicle continued to accelerate. It was later determined that the cruise control module was the cause of the problem. The consumer had had other components of the vehicle replaced which include the brake pad sensor, brake pads, electrical wiring. On the day of delivery the vehicle's left front wheel assembly separated from the vehicle. This failure was due to the loss of four major bolt which held the assembly to the chassis.
