One problem related to tailgate has been reported for the 1997 GMC Jimmy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Upper portion of rear hatch, which is spported by two small 'shocks' when open, was shattered and twisted when apparently the two shocks decided to fully extend even though the upper portion was still locked to the rest of the rear hatch - glass shattered all over inside and outside of car.
