Manual Transmission problems of the 1998 GMC Jimmy

Three problems related to manual transmission have been reported for the 1998 GMC Jimmy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Manual Transmission problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2002

Consumer states that while driving without warning the vehicle will accelerate and it will be hard for the consumer to get control of the vehicle to decelerate. Dealer notified.

2 Manual Transmission problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2002

Consumer stated it was determined by a mechanic that the transmission must be replaced. The extended warranty inspector found salt water in the transmission and determined that the damage to the transmission was not covered. Consumer is filing a dispute of a claim.

3 Manual Transmission problem

Failure Date: 05/26/1998

There was not a "failre". The transmission roars at initial acceleration. The roar continues through first gear and quits prior to shifting into third gear. The roar is intermittent and so far unpredictible. This occurs during slow acceleration.
