Two problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 1999 GMC Jimmy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1999 GMC Jimmy. The contact stated that the fuel gauge failed to display the proper fuel level. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing and stated that the fuel gauge sending unit in the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
When under one quarter (1/4) of a tank of fuel the vehicle would stall while decelerating (read: hard braking, braking before a turn) without warning, disabling all powered controls including power steering and power braking. Issue would occasionally resolve itself and then come back at random intervals.
