Four problems related to brake hoses, lines/piping, and fittings have been reported for the 2000 GMC Jimmy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2013

My wife started the car and the red brakes warning light was on. She pumped the brake pedal and it went to the floor. She turned the car off and returned to the house and cancelled her scheduled appointment. Later, after I arrived home I inspected the brake lines and found evidence of leaking above the left rear wheel. I jacked up the car, removed the left rear wheel and a rubber shield between the frame rail and body. More evidence of a leak was present. I started the car, pumped the brakes twice, turned off the car and reinspected the area. The metal brake line that runs along the top of the frame rail had a leak where it 90s toward the center of the axle.

2 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2012

At 94,445 miles: noticed a small leakage on garage floor, forward of left rear tire--within 10 miles noted significantly reduced braking capability. Taken to repair facility the following morning. . . The steel brake lines on driver's side were found corroded and cracked which caused brake fluid loss- ironically as the service technician was pulling the vehicle into the service bay--there was a total loss of rear brakes-- only then--in the bay, did the "brake" service warning light came on! (good reason to call them ' idiot' lights).

3 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2011

Upon inspection of 2000 GMC Jimmy 4dr / 4wd brake line drivers side over frame next to fuel tank held down by a clip leading to rear brakes ruptured due to corrosion around the clip area that holds the line to frame causing total loss rear brakes and proper braking when brake pedal went to the floor while returning home to park vehicle at our residence,. . Luckily at time of incident we were on our own rural property in driveway which is (approximately 2/10 mile long) and not the busy main highway which was traveled at 55 mph. The terrain was used in our driveway to bring the vehicle to a safe stop. Thankfully no injury's to occupants (including a 3 year old child) or damage to vehicle occurred with this incident.
