The dealership refused to honor the recall, because the vehicle had too many miles.
2 ball joints cost $122. 40 2 hub and bearing assembly $904. 00 front end alignment $49. 95 labor $246. 00 tax $70. 84 total1401. 69 my extended warranty covered all but $50. 00 the warranty cost me $1600. 00. Work done by stengel bros. Inc. Whitehall PA. 18052. The vehicle was beginning to pull to the right when I first noticed it . Thought the front end was out of alignment. After a week or so I bought a new set of tires, and went to have the front end aligned when I was told of the problem. The stengel bros. Are well known for outstanding work!they also told me it looked like water got in the hubs or bearings. Never used my Jimmy off road. And held maintenance every 4 to 5000 mi. At most. Also had a lot of trouble with it jumping in to 4x4 low. Had it repaired 4 times. Along with other minor problems. As of 5/14/03 I sold it back to the dealer ,and lost $5000. 00 on the deal because of a so called Smart buy. Which would of been ok. But because of mileage [51000] I was over from 36000[15000] miles x 20cents a mile, and $2000. 00 because I turned it in early . Just felt I could not trust the vehicle any more. Walked 5 mi. In dark one night and was towed in 3 times. I liked the vehicle, but it cost me $5000. 00 to get rid of it which I can't express in words how un happy that makes me!! I work hard for a living ,5k don't come easy.

1) instrument cluster intermittently shuts off while driving, then pops back on. On two occasions, it happens while crossing traffic lanes and also lost power - almost struck by oncoming traffic. Service engine light also comes on after such an occurence 2) exhaust noise during accelleration. Gets more pronounced as vehicle comes to normal operatoring temperature (3) driver side seat recliner lever broke off without much pressure being applied (4) air conditioner compressor went out during family vacation. Compressor squeeked for months before it finally quit (5) alternator died.
Automatic transmission shifts hard over first gear, and engine check light comes up. Dealer has yet to be contatced. Please provide further details.
Engine check light on intermittently. SUV accelelerate slowly, rpms reach 3000 before vehicles moves. Instrument panel lights going on and off, including the fuel gauge indicator. Over head dash light won't work. Took my SUV to the dealership on a Friday 11/09/01. All problems were occuring at that time and they could see for themselves. I was informed the the diagnosistic test showed 5 trans codes. And that wire to the transmission was loose and they reconnected that wire and all codes were now clear. The very next day my SUV began doing the same thing all over again. I called the dealership and reported the problem on Monday 11/12/01. I was then told that the problem may be caused be a wire leading from my ignition to transmission. And that I might need an ignition switch. And that to do the work it would cost me $400 to $500. And that they didn't think that the fuel gauge problem was related to this problems. There are time that I am unable to control my windshield wipers. I have read over 12 simular compliants & incidents. GMC need to repair these malfunction before someone is seriously injuried. I have almost been rear ender several times because my SUV won't accelerate properly. And to be driving along and suddenly have your instrument panel fails, this is distracting and unsafe. Also, my emergency brake will not hold. S. O.
Vehicle is shifting hard into gears, and consumer can feel the tires grab on pavement. Also, engine check light comes on depending on weather, if it's cool vehicle is okay. Problem started a few weeks ago.
Ignition switch failed three times, causing vehicle to automatically shut off. Consumer states that engine soon light illuminates, driver?s window motor failed and window will not go up or down, all dash lights and gauges will stop working, muffler has hole in it and makes loud noise, muffler and pipe exhaust system replaced, and when crank sometimes backfires and shifts hard, servo making bang shift, installed servo and 2 synolids.

At 12,270 miles we had no brake lights taken to the dealer and he replaced the turn signal and said that was the problem. That was in June. On July 6, 2001 the dash board lights flashed several times lighting all of the guages showing that the engine was not running, but it was still running. Engine light stayed on. Took the vehicle to the dealer who found multiple trans dtc's internal failure replace ignition switch and performed relearn. I am concerned that this vehicle will have more defects, please let me know if others are having the same problem. Thank you.

The car while driving at a high speed, lost power, the transmission dropped into low gear, and would only proceed at a slow speed, this happened more than once, the service engine malfunction light came on and stayed on. I was told by the dealer that they could not detect the problem. The problem occured near, for the third time, near coral springs GMC and I took the car into them immediately and they came up with transmissions codes on the computer. I was told to take the car back to king since the other dealer did not have a tranmission mechanic. King was contacted and I was told to bring the car in later , the engine malfunction light went off and it drove normally. The day I brought the car to king it occured again, and this time the symptoms were the same, but the instrument also went dead. King reported to me that the problem was not the transmission but the ignition switch which caused the computer to loose power, creating the transmission to downshift and, the car to loose engine power, and the instruments to fail. At high speed this creates some concern as you can imagine. They indicated it has happen on other vechiles. I contacted general motors since I considered it a safety problem. I feel owners and other dealers should be notified, since apparently it is not easily recognized. Thank you.
Consumer had to replace broken instrument panel accessory switch slot cover, water sloshing sound heard coming from passenger side under dash.
The service engine light came on in vehicle. Took vehicle to dealer and they said that cannot fix the vehicle untill 20 days from now. Meanwhile the vehicle was involved in a collision. Driver took foot off the brakes and the vehicle took off without any warning. Consumer believed it was from the service engine light.
We have paid incredable repair costs for this less than four years old car!( dot number: tire size: p205/75r15 ).

Last week truck lost all power and I could not get my key out of the ignition,once all power was back key came loose. I have had a problem with muffler since 1st month sounds like a hole in the exhaust and makes a loud ping sound ,dealer just told me I needed to replace muffler. When in reverse and backing out of driveway a loud clunk sound from front passenger side. Have lost power 2 times while driving down the street. Have also noticed that when I turn anything on in the car I am losing a significant amount of power . This includes blinkers,radio,a/c ,if they are all on my volts drop to almost 11.
A/c compressor failures other- intake manifold coolant leak due to use of plastic intake manifold master cylinder failure (loss of pedal/leal). Replaced master cylinder short time later same problem and dealer reported failure of anti lock computer at cost of $1200. 00. Repair refused and after a few weeks had them recheck master and they replaced the unit. No problem several months later.
