Table 1 shows two common structure related problems of the 2001 GMC Safari.
| Problem Category | Number of Problems |
|---|---|
| Door problems | |
| Bumper problems |
Brakes faulty. Brand new pads installed last week all around adjusted and dealer claims all is well but problem still exists. It takes an extreme amount of force applied to the pedal to stop this vehicle, noticed at 35k. Dangerous and not easy to get used to. In addition, windshield leaks on the top drivers side and the rear right door handle is failing on back dutch doors now at 65k. Also, both power door actuators on the drivers side and the passenger side failed completely at 34k.
Bumper fractured like glass when bumped by a vw leaving sharp edges and material dangerous to passersby. The temperatures were in the mid twenties and clearly within the design parameters of the component. Gm representatives hold that this is not a defect when the bumper not only failed to perform in a minimally acceptable way but in fact rendered the vehicle a hazard to pedestrians. Dt.
