Pulled over to change a flat tire, found four way flashers and brake light do not work. Forcing the flasher switch left allows brake lights to function.
A/c/heating: rear heat went out and had to be rewired engine: the water pump went out and had to replace it, that was covered by warranty. But still has a front oil leak some where in the front. Other: I heard a grinding noise while going down the road I took it in to the dealer I bought it from and they looked it over and said nothing was wrong. Shortly after warranty ran out the transfer case went out so we had a used one put in and it only lasted four months now it sits in the garage there should be something to do about the transfer case they should last longer. Brakes: been having trouble with the abs brakes since we bought it took it in to a dealer and they said nothing was wrong with it. I ended up doing the brakes and found they had cracked pads causing the noise in the brakes. Found out that all wheel drive is not what it is made out to be, I have had a lot of issues with this 1997 GMC Safari all wheel drive van.
Brakes soft and nosie at times. Master cylinder replaced. Brakes jump when stopping at times. Battery goes dead. Jumped about a dozen times. Gm told me to replace battery. I did at walmart for $50. Instead at autoway for $150. Overhead information (compass, mile per gallon etc repaired about six times(but on warranty from autoway and gm. Hard starting, front doors jam, right front window fog up, told to turn vent by autoway and gm. Vent doesn't turn. Key less entry doesn't work sometimes. Was told by autoway & gm that I am the problem becaused I am disabled and should not drive.
Windshield wipers do not operate - recalled - dealer claims it was repaired, now wipers operate whenever it feels like it. Both torsion rods failed without warning within 1 day apart of each other. Mechanic revealed that gm now has a special technique to be done when this happens and it costs an extra $90 to repair. Which means they are aware of the problem and will not recall the vehicles and replace at their cost. Broken spark plug almost killed my family. Fuel pump went out. Driver's side window does not roll down, driver's side view mirror does not operate.
Gm chas a failure in the Safari and they don't care, it's a lemon!! no safety defect stated.
Consumer pulled up in driveway waiting for rain storm to calm down. Vehicle was off and key was out of ignition. Smoke started coming out of power window controls on driver's side. Consumer got children out. Took plyers and disconnected battery. Vehicle was still driveable. Manager in service department said ground wire touched control wires.
Engine has rough idle/check engine light previously, dealer performed engine tune-up. Next problem of rough engine/check engine light, still waiting from dealer as to the cause. TSB 00-06-04-003 has been issued concerning this problem, the question is, this should be a recall item, since this is a safety hazard while travelling at freeway speeds.
This van has the rear dutch door configuration (3 sections). The electronic rear hatch lock fails and locks all the doors without warning. The remote locking device and the hard wired locking switches in the doors are inactivated. There is no way to open the rear doors with a key. This is my second occurrence.
Vehicle experience problems with power steering pump leaking/gas pedal sticking/gas indicator always reading full tank of gas/engine light coming on and off, and transmission slipping which may cause a crash. Please provide further information.
Engine check light keeps coming on, and the van starts to run very rough and has to be taken in for repairs.
Interior trim fell off. Yh.
Have had multiple problems with this vehicle in addition to the one listed above. This is my primary concern as the vehicle could be difficult to control in a panick situation.
