The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the knock sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 209,000.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2025

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Sierra denali. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was shuddering and vibrating. The contact pulled over and opened the hood with the engine running. The contact stated that there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the vehicle was still running rough. The contact was advised by the mechanic that the fuel injectors needed to be reprogrammed, and the vehicle was taken to a dealer. The dealer reprogrammed the fuel injectors, but the vehicle was still running rough. The dealer had not opened the engine up to diagnose the failure; however, the dealer thought that there might be a failure with connecting rods. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 25v274000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2021

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at 55 mph, the vehicle began to shift hard, started shuddering and lost electrical power. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to push the vehicle to the side of the road with assistance. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. However, the vehicle was shifting hard and was shuddering while driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the main power cord had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to a second dealer, fresno Buick GMC (5515 n blackstone Ave, fresno, CA 93710), where it was diagnosed that the transmission torque converter and the engine mount needed to be replaced. Additionally, the dealer diagnosed that the coolant reservoir had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure through email. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.

GMC has refused to find a fix for the heater cord defect which is one of the main reason why I purchased the vehicle. I live in idaho. GMC should compensate owners until fixed.

Tl- the contact owns a 2017 GMC Sierra. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number 19v328000 ( engine) however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced any failure. The contact contacted the dealership (wheeler Chevrolet Buick located at 11401 n straits hwy, cheboygan, mi 49721) who informed the contact that the part for the repair was unavailable. The dealership was unable to provide an estimated time for the repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. VIN tool confirms parts distribution disconnect. Gl.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2017

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Sierra. While driving various speeds, the vehicle began to shutter without warning. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (donovan and bauer auto group, 11579 hydetown road, titusville, PA 16354), but the cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was able to duplicate the failure, but there was no remedy to correct the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
