The contact owns a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 denali. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle lost motive power with the “engine power failure” warning light illuminated. The contact was informed that the fuel system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.

2 Diesel Fuel System problem of the 2011 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 03/23/2013

I own a 2011 GMC Sierra 3500 6. 6 duramax diesel truck. When the truck is "regen-ing" the "dpf", raw fuel leaks from an exhaust coupling located at the turbo and down-pipe saturating the hot exhaust pipe with fuel. When you come to a stop while it is in this regen mode white smoke boils out from under the hood and enters the cabin inducing a coughing fit and burning eyes. I took the truck to a GMC dealer in san angelo TX and told them about the problem. Was told that they couldn't replicate the problem that I was describing and that I should rest assured because "diesel won't burn anyway".

4 Diesel Fuel System problem of the 2005 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 08/23/2005

I own a 2003 2500 hd 4x4, a wonderful vehicle it would be even more wonderful if I could find a dealer that would stand behind his product. My next car probably will not be GMC or chevy. I have owned the car since June of 2003. Due to the nature of my business I already have 98,000 miles. During that time I have complained about fuel mileage. The reports lie. Nobody will do anything about the fuel mileage. Because it can't get any better because they lied. I have lost a vaccume pump, and a left front wheel hub which had to be completely replaced. What prompted my complaint is that I have started developing a vibration at 77-83 mph. Dealer rep says you shouldn't be doing 80 mph. Therefore since our mechanics can't speed in your vehicle ( completely understandable) you don't have a vibration. Despite the fact that the vibration occours at 80mph I still have a vibration and just because it is against the law, ( 75 is about the norm on our highways), doesn't mean I don't have a vibration. My guess is that it is either another wheel hub, or something in the installation of the new vaccume pump. Because after they replaced that it ran good for awhile. The vibration is getting worse and I am at 97-98,000 miles. Vehicle is also starting to surge, but not all the time. From what I have read about the other complaints it could be the ac acting up. But since it wasn't surging this time, well if your a consumer reading this you know the story. I have told you all the bad. Now for some good. . . . The brake system on this car is beautiful I am still less than half all the way around. The brake system is perfectly tuned from front to back. I have hauled cars and trailors from time to time and the engine transmission and brakes all work together beautifully. Its the service I am complaining about.

5 Diesel Fuel System problem of the 2003 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 05/15/2005

I own a 2003 GMC 3500 Sierra with a duramax diesel engine. It is used recreational, and has under 30k miles, but is now 36 months old. This summer 1/2 of my fuel injectors failed and were replaced under warranty. I'm concerned there the rest of the injectors will fail, as has been frequently reported by owners sharing concerns on various online forums. I am additionally concerned that this failure will occur after my warranty expires. I would like to request that the injector issues be researched for 2003 duramax engines, and that a recall be issued to update vehicles with new injectors that don't exhibit the same flaws/failures, or request that the engine warranty be extended to 200,000 miles as was done on the 2001-02 models. The date of this incident is estimated.
