The contact owns a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the fuel gauge would fluctuate frequently and register it as full and then empty. GMC stated that the VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign id number 06e043000. The only new equipment on the vehicle were the wheels, tires, and water pump. Everything else was the original equipment. The vehicle has been to the dealer on one occasion. The failure mileage was 78,000 and current mileage was 158,000. Updated 8/10/09.
Fuel gauge read empty when full, half the time. Gauge will shut off then come on. This problem started 2 yrs ago with only 38,000 miles.
