The passive alarm system is malfunctioning aprox every 10 cranks. When this happens you are stuck for at least a hour before it will start. Dealership can not find the problem and a complaint was made to GMC complaint department I have changed numerous parts m switches and boxes ,.
Instrument panel stops working from time to time. My guages go crazy. My rpm and speedometer mess up and can't tell how fast I'm going. This has been going on for a few years now. My airbag sensor light is on and was in a light wreck few months ago. Hit pretty hard on front end of truck and yet neither one of my airbags deployed.
The gear shift indicator light has gone from dim to no light at all so you can not see what gear you are in. This happens anytime the vehicle is running.
The running light sockets burned out. I can send you the burned out socket but need an address.
The contact owns a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500. When the vehicle was placed into gear, the contact noticed that the gear selector was barely illuminated. The failure progressively worsened and the contact had to memorize in what gear the vehicle was placed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 138,000.
The contact owns a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while at a stop sign, all the lights on the instrument panel began flashing intermittently. Also, the headlights turned on and off independently, the speedometer and temperature gauges showed inaccurate readings. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with electrical failures on the computer system. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.
The rear speakers on my 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab quit working and haven't came back on. I have been to different forums and this seems to be a very common occurrence.
Speedometer shows incorrect speed by aprox. 20 mph less than the actual speed at times.
Speedometer reading erractically. 20mph when parked, sometimes 40 when parked. Unable to determine actual speed. Apparently this is affecting thousands of gm vehicles and gm knows about this issue but won't do anything about it. Maybe a class action lawsuit is in order? a silent recall is in place if you have less than 80k miles, if your vehicle falls within the range of VIN #'s, if it happened on a day that doesn't end in y. Gm needs to be responsible and stand behind their product. Especially if they know its a safety issue.
I bought my GMC used in 2008 and I had no problems until a June of 2012 when my speedometer started to get my speed totally wrong. At times it would say I was driving over 120 mph or when in idle it would even say the same thing. The speedometer picks a different speed daily. Just a few weeks ago in July of 2012 my gas gauge went completely out so I have no idea how much gas it left in my truck. I have to guess by mileage now in hopes that my electrical doesn't go completely out now.
The drive indicator on my dash board cluster does not light up and show what gear im in. Called before because there is a recall for this year and model of truck but my VIN was not included in recall but I have the same issue.
Speedometer doesn't work correctly, reading 60 mph when we were travelling approx 40. Also bulbs burned out in it making it unreadable at night. Bulbs are non-replaceable in this instrument cluster, so you need to replace entire cluster to fix bulb issue. Poor design, expensive, and annoying problem at only 99,000 miles.
Speedometer fluxuate sporadicly, wrong speed showing. Took to dealer, diagnois as component failure. GMC acknowledge problem, but refuse to recall. Dealer will replace odometer if less than 80,000 miles.
Speedometer failure. Very dangerous - while trying to resume speed on an interstate I nearly crashed into the interstate barrier/wall on a curve the other night because the speedometer read 70. I then slowed to "stay with the flow" and speedometer read 35 (assuming traffic was driving the speed limit of 70). Now it start of ok and then before you know it will start to drop and after a stop will stay at 0 while driving interstate speeds, will stick at 55 when probably going about 10. It is all over the place. The failure is now daily and is far too dangerous to my family and I to drive. Hope this gets recalled quickly before it causes deaths.
Speedometer failed at 68,000 miles. It sticks all the way past 120 mph. Can't see how fast I'm going, dealer refuses to fix it. Tried three dealers.
Speedometer works occasionally, unknown speed traveling.
The speedometer and fuel gauge on my 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab are erratic and occasionally non operative. Speedo reads 120 mph at times when the vehicle is stopped. Sometimes does not read at all, stays at zero when doing freeway speeds. Fuel gauge reads empty when 1/4 tank, then after a restart will show proper(?) level.
We own a 2005 GMC sierra and the speedometer has gone out. Was informed it is an internal gauge cluster that has gone out and it will take $400-$600 to fix it. I have researched online and this has been a problem with trucks since at least 2007. There should be a recall on this and the customers should not have to pay for this to be fixed. GMC refuses to do a recall and says that there is nothing they can do.
05 GMC sierra speedometer erratic at first,15,000 ml. ,now at 62,000 ml. Doesn't work. I was going 50 at a stop sign. I have my own business and pull trailers w/ equipment and the right speed is critical for the towing weights. The law enforcement agencies will never take a faulty speedometer as a reason for going over the speed limit. Interstate driving is at a minimum because going with the flow will mean over heating of the small trailer tires on the tilt bed trailer. No action yet it just quit today,1-4-2010 , and I am filing this complaint to add to the numbers of others that have already filed.
Speedometer has suddenly stopped working on my 2005 GMC Sierra 1500. I have learned there is a recall for model years 2003-2004. Seems like the problem may extend to further years.
My speedometer failed in Dec of 2009 on my GMC sierra pickup. In the cold it always registers 0 mph and will start to work after an hour on the road.
Speedometer sticks and doesn't return to 0 and continues to rise every time the vehicle accelerates until the speedometer is pegged out and then it sticks there.
GMC sierra 2005 speedemoter bad, cannot tell what speed I'am going. 37. 000 miles on truck. . .
I'm currently at 84,000 miles on my 2005 GMC sierra, and when stopped with the truck in park my speedometer is showing 90mph then proceeds up from there while driving. I think there's something that needs to be done. I have several friends with the same year model vehicles manufactured by gm. All have the same problems. Talked to a dealer about getting it fixed they told me it was going to cost 300 for the part, and 200 dollars to have it programmed. . . .
Speedometer stopped working at 20000 miles. It was working fine then started to work only occasionally and has now completely stopped working. We have not had it repaired as of yet. It is very unsafe to drive not knowing what speed you are traveling at, plus can result in traffic violations causing your insurance to increase.
I own a 2005 GMC sierra and the speedometer has failed. I own a gps so I use this to help determine the speed I am traveling. I brought my vehicle into the dealer on several occasions and contacted gm and they stated they could not help me that I would have to pay $380. 00 to get it repaired. Two days after bringing into my local dealer I received a letter in the mail stating there was a class action lawsuit against gm for defective speedometers on certain makes and models.
The contact owns a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving approximately 65 mph, the contact noticed that the speedometer was not providing a reading. The dealer was made aware of the failure and the technician stated that the instrument cluster would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 50,200.
Electrical system, all my truck lights dim very low when I roll the windows up or down when driving, when I hit the brakes all lights dim and vot. Drops we have taken it in to the shop a lot for this and still no fix. Service engine light stays on and my temperature gauge doesn't work I took it in and they said this problem is only in alaska and there is no fix. Front diff has been a problem since the day we picked it up the have fixed different things on it.
