After filling the tank I drove for several hundred miles and I looked at the tank and it showed I had gas so I kept driving, soon the engine stopped and I was left stranded by my truck and I am disabled. I then had the vehicle towed and the service station found nothing wrong with it other than they added gas and it started and ran fine. I continued to drive the truck and noticed that the gas was not going down on the gauge like it should. One day I got in my truck and started it and the low fuel sensor light came on along with a chime , the (dic) said the fuel was low but I had just filled it up and had only driven a few miles. The low gas light stays on all the time now even when I fill it up along with the service engine light and it will chime every time I start it up. I took the vehicle to a mechanic and he stated it was a worn fuel level sensor and he has had several gm vehicle that have had the same problem. I feel like this is a safety problem especially when you are disabled and have problems getting around in the first place.
: the contact stated while driving 40 mph on the highway, a passing motorist motioned to pull the vehicle over. The contact pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and white smoke erupted from between the bed and cab of the truck as well as underneath. The fire department was alerted, and extinguished the flames. Also, the police were alerted, and a report was taken. The vehicle was deemed a total loss due to the extensive fire damage. The fire department inspected the vehicle and determined there was a small hole in the fuel tank which resulted in gasoline leaking onto a nearby wiring harness and ultimately causing an ignition source which led to a fire. The manufacturer was not alerted.
