Transfer Case problems of the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500

1 Transfer Case problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2009

The contact owns a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds or sitting idle in park, the four wheel drive switch would intermittently activate and independently shift into low drive. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed the contact that he would need to replace the module in the transfer case. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

2 Transfer Case problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

The contact owns a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the service 4-wheel drive light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis and the transfer case encoder motor and transfer case selector switch were both replaced. Three years later the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the contact's personal mechanic and the same parts were replaced. The failure mileage was 75,000 and the current mileage was 113,000.
