Cracked dashboard on passenger side at left back corner of airbag cover. The vehicle ha 56k miles on it. Garage kept.
The dash has cracked at the corner of the passenger side air bag and another crack has formed above the instrument cluster on the driver side. Both cracks have formed in the last 6 months beginning with the one at the passenger side air bag. The truck is in great condition with only 55,000 miles at this time.
Dash cracked top left corner where air bag fits into the dash.
Cracked dashboard - the dashboard on my 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 series truck has cracked on both the driver and passenger side. Now, due to the severe cold, the crack on the driver's side is expanding due to the expansion and contraction of the plastic thru interior heating and rapid cooling of the vehicle. These cracks occurred during normal driving conditions on state highways and interstates.
Dash cracked on passenger side above air bag. It cracked when the vehicle was parked, and was running to heat the vehicle with the heater and defrost. Interior temperature was set to 75, outside temperature was around 35. Dash crack extends from the air bag which appears to cause a safety issue.
Takata recall dash is crack on the top at airbag afraid in a crash that the bag can lunch shards in to passengers or the bag will be ripped when deployed.
Dash has cracked from the passenger side airbag to the front of dash cap and along instrument cluster to the front of dash cap. This can easily cause a problem should the airbag go off. At this point I believe the center of the dash would shatter sending shrapnel to every direction inside the truck should the airbag go off or a collision. For me to replace this is going to cost $1000. 00 this is GMC's responsibility for poor engineering and poor quality. They should fix this before someone gets seriously hurt or killed! I shouldn't have to spend $1000. 00 on a $60,000. 00 truck because the dash isn't supported properly to keep from falling apart. Besides, why spend $1000. 00 on a new one when it's just going to crack again. Structural flaw!!.
Dashboard surrounding airbag and instrument cluster is cracking and essentially disintegrating. If my airbag deploys or I'm involved in a collision these sharp plastic fragments will become a safety hazard. This truck has 38k miles and is in otherwise pristine condition with zero scratches on the interior parts aside from these dash cracks. The plastic is protected every three months at least with aerospace 303 and protected from sunlight when not in use. This is not a maintenance issue, it's a structural defect. Thousands of these vehicles are affected.
Got in the truck a year ago and noticed a crack in my dash above the instrument cluster, after further inspection I notice 2 more cracks both by the passenger airbag. This happened at around 55,000 miles. This vehicle was stationary at the time I noticed the cracks.
Severe cracking dashboard.
Dash cracked next to airbag on passenger side of dash while I was driving on interstate 37 north of corpus christi, TX.
Dash cracks have developed on the dashboard around the passenger airbag. My concern is if the airbag is deployed in an accident, pieces from the surrounding cracked dash may be sent flying towards the occupants of the vehicle.
Dashed cracked near air bag.
During normal vehicle operation (while driving on a state highway) the dashboard adjacent to the passenger air bag cracked. It is on the back left corner of the framework around the air bag cover on the windshield side. I do not store anything on top of the dashboard and always use an aluminized sunscreen protector in the windshield 9 out of 12 months. I do not know what caused the crack to occur (unknown cause).
Takata recall: a crack has appeared on the dash leading to the air bag on passenger side! my concern is that this may affect deployment of the air bag, and or cause pieces of dash to become shrapnel!.
Dashboard has cracked over the instrument panel. This single piece extends over to the passenger airbag.
Dashboard cracking around airbag on passenger side and instrument panel on driver side. The thin brittle plastic may be a hazzard with an airbag deployment.
Dashboard on driver side and passenger airbag cracked.
The dash is crack around airbag with 16000 miles on truck.
Dash has cracked above the instrument panel all the way to windshield, and has cracked from windshield to passenger side airbag cover.
Dashboard on passenger side airbag is cracking.
Dash is cracked around passenger air bag.
I have a truck with less then 44000 miles and has developed a crack in the dash right above the passenger airbag. My concern will be what going to happen when my truck is involved in a wreck and the passenger air bag deploys. Pretty sad that all the money the federal government gave gm they couldn't build a vehicle that lasts.
Cracks on both sides of dash board.
Dashboard cracked over instrument panel and airbag side.
The dash is cracked over the airbag and the crack is growing.
Interior upper dash cracked at 11,000. Always garaged. Known issue with '07-'13 gm trucks. Potential damage to passenger air bag upon inflation. Due to sharp corners on crack the airbag could be damaged or become inoperative due to a puncture upon inflation.
Dash has cracked around passenger safety bag.
