Ignition Switch problems of the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500

1 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2016

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving 10 mph, the steering wheel seized and the vehicle lost electrical power and stalled. In addition, the "reduction power steering control", "engine power reduction", and "hood ajar" indicators displayed. When the contact attempted to turn the vehicle back on, the vehicle initially failed to start and the contact heard a clicking sound. The negative battery terminals also became extremely hot. The vehicle was taken to mark allen Buick GMC (6300 new sapulpa rd, tulsa, ok 74131) where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to mark allen Buick where the dealer stated that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred several more times. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v640000 (electrical system). The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.
