The air conditioning went out suddenly, just after the warranty expired. After research, this is an issue known to gm as they are currently subjects in proposed class-action lawsuits in 2 states regarding this defect.
There is a leak on the top right hand side of the a/c condenser resulting in hot air coming out of the vents when the a/c is enabled. After some research I found that this is a common issue and gm has to take responsibility for it. Gm already issued a TSB for the 2015 - 2017 tahoes, yukons, and escalades with the same engines and equipment as my 2015 GMC sierra with 45000 mi. TSB # 17336 air conditioning condenser (combi-cooler) refrigerant leak.
The air conditioning started blowing hot air while moving. The truck is only 4 years old with 75000 miles on it. In doing research we have learned that this is a common problem with the GMC sierra's and it not covered by gm even though it appears to be a design flaw.
2015 GMC Sierra 1500 air conditioning has stopped working. This appears to be a very common problem and GMC has only issued spotty recalls for it. My truck has 46,000 miles and now my children get to ride in a hot vehicle because gm will not help with repair.
Air conditioner blows hot air as a result of line system leak. Air conditioning failure do to known TSB pit5331. GMC has covered this issue for like SUV models (escalade, tahoe, yukon), but wants over $1,000 to repair GMC Sierra 1500 at GMC dealership. This is a faulty product design that is a known problem per their own service bulletin, and associated harness to enforce faulty air conditioner unit design.
~tl the contact owns a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the air conditioning failed. The contact called gay Buick GMC at (832) 769-4379 and was informed that they were aware of the failure, but there were no recalls. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the condenser was fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls and provided case number: 8-4727896957. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.
The air condition condensor is leaking and therefore caused the ac not work. We have purchased a new condensor to replace it and fix the problem but this should be covered by the manufacturer.
At 50,000 miles, and 24 months after purchasing it new, the air conditioning stopped working due to a faulty condenser. After investigating this problem I found out that there is an extremely high failure rate of GMC trucks for the same exact problem. It is a well known defect per several gm dealers who are left to deal with the problem. A bracket to secure the a/c line was never installed when vehicle was built, causing movement in the line which eventually can ruin the condenser, ac line and compressor. I asked gm dealer to fix under warranty but was told that the best that gm was willing to do was to pay 40% of the repair bill. This is unacceptable, as the defect is widespread in many of their light trucks.
Air conditioning condenser coil. Condenser coil is leaking. Truck is less than 2 years old with the problem starting.
