This complaint is about the automatic extending/retracting foot steps on my GMC sierra. The step is supposed to extend outwards when the door is opened and retract back under the truck when the door is closed. Instead, when the door is opened the step extends and at random will retract back inwards. Aside from being annoying this is actually dangerous as the other day I was exiting my truck with one foot on the step and the other reaching down to the ground when the step started retracting. The foot on the step was pulled under the truck and got stuck in the step. This threw me off balance and the other foot hit the ground at an angle and twisted my ankle. I called a local GMC dealership about it and they said they have seen a lot of trucks come in lately with the same issue and would have to replace the entire step for $1800. I brought it to an independent shop and they cleaned and greased the hinges so it happens less often now but it is still a problem. There are no warning lights or messages on the vehicle. It will also extend and retract at random when the truck is parked and off. This began happening around March of this year.

4 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2017

The passenger side door strikers (both front and rear) were not torqued properly. The bolts seem to have been hand tightened only, and appear to be slowly backing out further. If left as is, I believe the striker would eventually become separated from the vehicle body, allowing the doors to open unexpectedly. The only symptoms of the issue were: a slightly louder release/click from the door when opening (when compared to drivers side doors that appear to be torqued correctly), doors seemed to be harder to latch when closing (had to pull a little harder than drivers doors), and occasional complaints of road noise from passengers.

5 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2017

My new 2017 GMC sierra vibrates badly at all speeds above 40 mph. The shake in the steering wheel causes my hands to go numb and is a safety issue. I have informed gm of this and had it repaired 3 times. This didn't correct the issue and gm is stating the vehicle is "operating as designed" and will not do any further repairs. It is hard to believe that in this day and age a vehicle is designed to have a constant vibration. This issue has been going on since model year 2014 and gm will not acknowledge or correct the issue. It is going to take someone's serious bodily injury or death for them to look into the problem. Please open an investigation into all gm half ton trucks from model year 2014 through 2017.

6 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2017

Heavy vibration between 1200 rpm and 1500 rpm anywhere below 45 mph and above 70 mph.
