general problems of the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 - part 2

Alarm codes p25a2 & c05b0 -brake system failure 43mph top speed -service trailer brake system -service brake assist -service esc -check engine light -traction control light my vehicle is not showing any recall, but obviously I’m not the only one with this issue. A quick research on google revealed several people with the same issue. I’m having to pay for this out of pocket for an obvious issue with GMC & chevy trucks.

Abs, traction control and trailer break system failure. Check engine light comes on and goes off after 5 cycles. It also says esc warning drive with care and it flashes also and steering reduced.

The rear window defogger is smoking and sizzling. The connection on the passenger side glass that connects the moveable harness for the center glass smokes and sizzles when the rear defogger is on. There is a recall on these vehicles in canada for this issue. My concern is that it may start a fire. The connector is right behind the right rear passenger seat, imposing a threat to the occupant of that seat. Also, the rear defogger comes on automatically with heated mirrors when remote started. I cannot use remote start, mirror defogger, or rear glass defogger currently due to this defect. I noticed a sizzling sound while driving the truck. I pulled over and began searching. I found smoke being emitted from the connector attached to the rear glass on the passenger side. This is a serious issue. It is a fire hazard. The vehicle could catch fire while driving or while remote engine start has been activated in temperatures lower than 40 degrees. There is a difference in an uncommon electrical short and a known problem. General motors is aware of this issue and there has not be a notification to owners in the united states nor are there any recalls or suggested repairs. The safety of consumers is in jeopardy with this known problem occurring in multiple lines of their vehicles. Any with a power sliding glass could be affected.

The truck has 50,000 miles, purchased new. I don't tow or go off road. I take it to the dealer every 5,000 miles. While driving 65-70mph on the interstate (4-lanes), my dash lit up with five messages and the "brake, traction control and engine" lights illuminated. I applied brakes but the pedal went to the floor and the steering veered to the left causing me to move out of my lane. The truck then went to limp mode and I was unable to go above 43mph the remainder of the trip home. After taking it to my dealer the next day, I was told they "found air in the brake fluid system due to secondary seal failure in brake master cylinder, and was quoted a new cylinder (pn 86788482) for $1708. 06. Response to questions: >component failure: brake master cylinder (eboost brake unit assembly) / brake system failure >it was just me in the vehicle - brake failure on the highway put me and others on the road at major risk >yes - after paying to diagnose, I was told this was brake master cylinder failure. . . . Gm issued a customer satisfaction program (n202324120) for a limited number of my2021 silverado/sierra trucks (mine is a my2019) for dealers to replace the eboost brake unit assemblies due to failure >part has not been inspected by my insurance rep. /I do not know if anyone else has inspected >the warnings illuminated on the dash at the time of brake failure while on the interstate 1. "service esc" 2. "service trailer brake system" 3. "steering assist is reduced drive with care" 4. "service brake assist" 5. "brake system failure 43 mph top speed" 6. Also, the brake, traction control and engine lights illuminated.

When shifting to park the vehicle shuts down but message comes up to shift to park and electronics stay on. Vehicle is off but unable to exit vehicle and lock it since the shift to park messages keeps dinging.

Rear vision module failure. Open circuit inside module. “service rear vision system” on radio while backing up. Was intermittent blut not always on when backing ip.

Front passenger window when you push it up it goes up and then immediately back down.

While driving down the highway at 70 mph, the transmission slammed into gear and the engine died. A message appeared and said shift to neutral and press the ignition button. The check engine light also appeared. This had been a problem that first appeared at 48,000 miles. I was told that gm recognizes that there is an issue with the transmission, but that it would not damage the vehicle so it is not able to be repaired under warranty. The dealership advised that I should change the transmission fluid, so I did. The transmission continued to slam into gear thereafter. Fast forward to 55,000 miles where the truck completely died. The engine would not start and the truck had to be towed to a dealership. The next day the dealership told me that they had figured out the issue and that it was related to the fuse box and the ignition. I picked up my truck the next day, and drove less than a mile before the engine died again. I sat at the dealership for 12 hours and they had another answer for what was happening. They said that the shift lever was damaged and it was not allowing the battery to recharge. I live 400 miles away from where the truck broke down. I had to rent a vehicle to return home with my family from a trip. I now have to drive back to my truck in another state, and pay for the 12 plus hours of diagnostic work at $140 an hour as well as the cost of the part and the time to install it because the dealership stated that this is not covered by any warranty. I see that several people are dealing with a similar issue and I am frustrated that no one is willing to help us right this wrong. My grandfather worked for gm his entire adult life, and I will never own another one.

When driving my truck I lost all power steering got notifications to service abs in 7 days, service esp, and service power steering as well as a stability at light being on. Could no control my vehicle, restarted the truck 4 times, and it disappeared, garage could not pull any codes. This is very unsafe!!!!!! and has been issued a recall in past models and years. I could have been killed, for a problem the gm is aware of and have not issued a recall yet.

Last weekend was taking the kids and my brother and his son fishing, so 2 adults in front seats 3 kids on the backseat. Got my boat all hooked up and we're off. About 2 miles down the road the truck rebs up really high and then bottoms down hard on the rpm's. As soon as this happens all lights and instrument cluster goes crazy. Check engine light on, parking brake light on,traction control light on, and I'm sure I'm forgetting more. The cluster states esc failure drive with caution, do not exceed 43 miles per hour speed limit brake failure and so on. I have since found pictures pf the exact same thing that happened to me that morning and will provide. Needless to say I have no brakes and have a 19 ft bass boat behind me. All I could do was let off gas completely and push brake pedal all the way to the floor and pray that it stopped. Good lord willing it did. Pulled over ASAP and killed truck, let sit a few minutes while I assessed the situation and cranked it back up. All lights and brakes were fine. Has not done it since but I only drove to dealership to find out the issue and 4 days later still no answer. Its a 2019 with only 26000 miles, and has never had 1 issue before this.

Shift to park lights stays on sometimes.

While driving on a two lane road I proceeded to pass a slow moving vehicle, after accelerating from 45 mph to 60 mph my check engine light, service electronic stability control (esc) and service electronic brake system lights illuminated on my display. My rpms increased before shifting gears and I noticed a significant loss in power. Thankfully there was not an accident when the incident occurred; however, if an oncoming vehicle or bad weather it could have been a different outcome. I took my vehicle to a GMC dealer to diagnose the issue where I found out my lifters for my valves are bad and my fourth cylinder is inoperable along with a bad cam. A new vehicle at 65k miles on it should not be having mechanical issues that can pose a danger while driving, putting others and my safety at risk. Gm needs to reevaluate the products and materials their using to build engines to ensure there are no flaws starting with the valve lifters.

I started the vehicle messages popped up stating service power steering drive with care, esc drive with care. At that time I had no power steering and the brakes were spongy. I then drove a short distance stopped turned off the engine and restarted with the same issues. Drove home on the next day everything had reset. I then went and set a appointment with the dealer, they found nothing wrong no tripped codes nothing.

On 6/24 I drove my 2019 GMC sierra denali truck 2 miles to the store was in there 10 minutes come out to start it and a esc service warning message appeared then another message appeared say service power steering drive safe then my traction light came on then my trailer light I tried turning truck off then waited 2 minutes pumped brakes started it again same messages appeared I called my husband to tell him I said I will try to drive home as I preceeded to put in gear and back out of parking spot I lost my steering it froze up then lost my brakes I immediately put in gear turned off called husband to come get me as I was waiting I tried to start again when I did all messages were gone and I had steering as well. As brakes but at this point I was a an emotional wreck we just had a horrific scare in same truck on a major interstate my husband completely lost brakes and almost wrecked only to find there was a brake module reprogramming recall on the truck we had not been notified by mail yet so now this if I was driving on main road this could have been fatal so my husband called and dropped off vehicle on 6/25 told them every detail they said they call when done so on July 6th was told truck was ready when he arrived they handed him our keys and invoice said have nice day my husband got to truck read invoice only to find they did nothing to truck he went in to service said why isn't it fixed they said because no codes come up but if it happens again bring it back my husband said what if im driving it and it happens this can cause a fatal accident the service mgr said just bring it in so he said so if my wife gets callhet husband was killed along with another family because his steering and brakes failed your going to tell her sorry for loss truck had no codes is now we have a truck we paid $58500. 00 that is unsafe to drive I refuse to put my life or others in jeopardy im an emotional wreck I spent 2 days sick with worry can anyone help with guide us to some help.

1st time engine check light came on had brake control updated. 2nd did auto start and after that truck will not start. After 3 hours can start the truck but brake control traction control abs were off. Engine has reduce power. Dealer updated the truck and check battery. 3rd time truck will not power on. After jump starting the truck it pops up all of previous message. And running board keep popping in and out and truck will still drain power ebven when off.

There is an issue with the drivers door locking mechanism. Something between the electrical and the mechanical components that lock and unlocks the door keeps breaking. So far you can always unlock the door manually by pulling the door handle but it sporadically will not lock or unlock by the remote or push button. Also it doesn’t always lock when put into drive like the rest of the doors do.

Transmission feels sluggish and jerks. When coming to a stop feels like your being rear ended. Stereo system freezes and goes silent no sound what do ever.

On June 2, 2020, my vehicle was in the driveway and caught fire. I'm not sure how it started. I heard a loud boom and went outside and saw my truck fully engulfed in flames. I purchased the vehicle on 11/15/2019. It had only 4015 miles at the time. The vehicle was stationary. The last time it was driven was at 4:00 pm on June 2nd and at 9:58 pm it was on fire.

When truck is turned on dash says service esc brake system and service 4 wheel drive will not disengage from 2 wheel drive and parking brake is engaged and will not disengage and truck will not move. Infotainment screen will freeze up and not be able to change radion navigation etc.

Dam truck its on park but keeps displaying a message saying shift to parck,,,, took to dealership they couldn't find the problem , they asked to start by changing the shift to park handler and ���will go from there ���that's what they said, worse truck I ever had,,,and all this started right after 36000 miles,,,.

After shutting vehicle off, there's loud noises coming from behind the steering wheel that sounds like relays.

Just bought this vehicle and took it to the dealer and they don`t have an explanation but the backup camera malfunctions. This could be very dangerous with young kids and when backing up while picking the kids up from school and at local grocery or department stores.

My pickup started, I pulled out on road and sped up to 35 mph, when I stepped on brakes to slow down they were unresponsive, so I began pumping. They felt very hard to pump and were not slowing the truck down. Lights came on saying service brakes etc. As I coasted to try to slow down off side of road. I had to keep pumping the brakes down to floorboard and I?m not sure they were even working. I lost power steering and was almost involved in a serious rear-end collision. 4 messages appeared on digital dash while driving. Service esc, brake system failure 62 mph top speed, service trailer brake system, steering assist reduced. I had to press brake pedal to the floor with extremely excessive force to get truck to stop. This failure could have easily resulted in vehicle accident, or even a fatality accident. I doubt I will ever carry my family in the truck again due to this and I certainly will not allow my children to drive the truck. This is the 5th time this has happened to my truck.

2019 GMC sierra. Consumer writes in regards to issues with the infotainment system. The consumer stated infotainment screen independently changes to different modes. While using the cameras, the infotainment screen independently switches views. The touch screen was faulty. While driving, the camera would independently activate. The dealer and manufacturer were made aware of the failure but, could determine a fix. The phone feature randomly makes calls to stored numbers. The volume would independently reach maximum volume. The consumer was unable to turn the volume down manually.

After my recall was fixed my truck locked into 4 wheel drive and I lost control of all my safety features. My lights would not work. They fixed what they said was a glitch in the recall and 3 weeks later my engine light came on again and my brake system started to show lights. They recalibrated the brake system recall again.

Truck parked in morning, turned it on and multiple warnings came on, service trailer brake system,service esc,brake system failure at 62mph,got warning from onstar that there is an issue with my antilock braking system, I took pictures of error but only could upload one.

During normal operation, when placing the vehicle in reverse, the infotainment screen intermittently turns blue, flashes, scrolls, or turns black. Often times a message is displayed that reads "service rear camera". Also, when driving the infotainment system will turn off, reboot, or turn black intermittently.

I had no issues with my truck until I went and had the most recent recall done for the brakes. I since have had brake issues twice. Once, hours after having the recall done I got in my truck and started it and all the dashboard lights were illuminated and I had to push the brake pedal to the floor after accelerating. The other instance was a week later after remote starting my truck from the phone application had the same scenario play out.

Purchased new, Dec 24, 2019. Current odometer 645miles. The vehicle was parked for about 15 minutes, when I returned to my truck and turned it on, multiple warning tones began to sound and the dashboard was illuminated with multiple warning lights (abs, traction control, check engine, parking brake) and messages reading: "brake system failure 62mph top speed," �service trailer brake system,� �steering assist is reduced drive with care,� �service esc. � I turned the vehicle off and on multiple times over the course of 20 minutes, exiting the vehicle, locking the doors, unlocking the doors, and starting the process from the beginning. I decided I wouldn't be driving over 62mph as I was only 2 miles from my home, so I decided to back out and drive home with full intentions of calling the dealership in the morning. When I tried to back out I realized that I had almost zero braking power, having to almost stand up on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle without giving it any gas, and turning was difficult (similar to manual steering in a vintage vehicle). I knew driving home would not be safe. I turns the vehicle off and on once more and all the warning messages and lights were no longer there. The check engine light remained on and is still on. I was able to drive home as though nothing happened, but am fearful this will happen while driving down the road, especially while my children are in the car. I have read multiple forums, this is not an isolated incident, with many others experiencing the same exact issue, sometimes while actually driving, in 2019 GMC sierras and chevy silverado�s. This is absolutely unacceptable and will result in injuries and deaths if gm does not resolve the issue.

Dear NHTSA, I recently leased a 2019 GMC sierra pickup truck. This truck is currently in the shop for the 6th time, and neither gm or the local dealership can seem to fix anything on this truck. Most recently, as yesterday I had my car in for the braking system. The dealership called me and said my truck was fixed. As I turned my truck on, the brake system light came on. I was told by the dealership to just drive it and it will go away. I do not feel this is a good/safe practice and gm is not helping me to get out of this unsafe truck.

Excessive brightness at night on back up camera when putting truck in reverse. Glare is so bright, I can't see anything in camera or my outside rear view mirrors. I have actually gotten out of my truck to make I am not going to back into something or someone. When it is raining at night. . . Forget it, you just guess what is back there and hope for the best. I hang a towel over it now when I back up at night, it is a $60,000. 00 truck. . . Wow.

I have a 2019 GMC sierra I took it in for recall services and took a road trip to texas once I reached tax that evening I had a brake system failure going down the highway took it into the shop and had everything looked at and check they said truck was fine and the next morning on the trip back brak system failed again and both time check engine light was on for electric problem as well. Go the truck to the dealer again where it is currently at now. They will do the same thing and tell me the truck is fine or replace parts that was not the issue. I refuse to place my family life in danger by continuing to drive this truck it is a major safety hazard.

Brand new truck, denali, 10k miles, started vehicle with multiple warning sounds/lights, dash read "brake system failure 62mph top speed", service trailer brake system", steering assist is reduced drive with care" service esc", power steering was very tough to steer, braking was super reduced with full weight on brake to try and get vehicle to stop. Have 3 children under 3 years of age and not acceptable GMC.

Tl- the contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the brake failure light had illuminated and the vehicle would not immediately stop when pressing the brake pedal. Several warning lights had displayed including the power steering, abs, trailer towing warning massage indicating the vehicle would not above 62 mph. The steering wheel had become difficult to turn in either direction. The failure had occurred on two separate occasions. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer fairway Chevrolet(3100 e. Sahara Ave, las vegas, nv) the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 1400. Jft.

Cruise control would not disengage when the brake was applied I was on a highway traveling 65 mph. Had to take an exit ramp to avoid a collision with vehicle in front of and beside me.
