The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 25v274000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact had parked the vehicle in a parking space when the engine seized. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel system control module had failed. The contact was informed that the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, and dtc: p0449 and p0498 were retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to a special coverage adjustment program for the evaporative emissions purge pump; however, the VIN was not included in the coverage. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure.
