1 Adaptive Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2026

A few weeks ago my adaptive cruise stopped working, as well as the automatic high beam system (not sure the technical name). As there was a warning light displayed, I brought it into the dealership to have them check it out. The technician jumped in really quick, made some changes within the control panel, and the light came off. As I drove out and tried to use the adaptive cruise control, it didn't work and I almost went into the back of a truck. That all being said, I brought it back into the dealer last week for them to diagnose the problem as a failed front windshield camera. I find it hard to believe that this camera can fail at 50k miles, and the repair with parts and labor costing approximately $1000. This is an advanced system designed to improve the driver experience and heavily marketed. Considering this is tied to safety in some capacity, shouldn't gm cover this repair? I quickly googled the issue and found others have had the same failure. The camera system combined with the control panel covers so many applications, I would be concerned about other issues with the truck. Not to mention the massive recall of my l87 engine and water pump failure that I have also dealt with. I appreciate you taking the time to read my rant. Not sure if this will do anything, but it would be nice to have some sort of relief from the oem due to the issues I have already experienced owning this truck.

2 Adaptive Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2026

Following engine replacement per NHTSA for 6. 2l GMC engine. I am submitting a safety complaint regarding my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 denali (refresh body style). The vehicle has experienced repeated failures of driver-assist features and safety system warnings, including: dash messages: “lane keeping assist system unavailable” and “service safety restraint system. ” when the fault occurs, driver-assist features including adaptive cruise control become inoperative. The issue has recurred multiple times, including after repairs. After one event, the truck sat parked approximately 10 days and the battery discharged to failure and required replacement. A dealership visit documented dtc u3000 (“internal electronic failure”) in the front view camera module. The dealer replaced/programmed/calibrated the front camera on 02/09/2026 at approximately 58,405 miles (invoice/ro #285795). The symptoms have recurred despite prior resets and this repair. I am concerned about loss of driver-assist functions while driving and the presence of a safety restraint system warning. Please investigate whether there is a defect related to the front camera/driver-assist systems and/or electrical module behavior that can cause repeat faults and battery drain on this model.

3 Adaptive Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2026

The front forward-facing camera module has failed, causing cruise control and driver-assistance features to become inoperative. Dealer diagnosis indicates the front camera must be replaced and recalibrated in order to restore cruise control and safety systems. This failure disables cruise control and driver-assist features that were standard equipment on the vehicle at purchase, resulting in a sudden loss of functionality while driving. The dealer has provided a repair estimate of approximately $1,150, including parts, labor, and required calibration, at owner expense. Based on similar reports from other owners, this appears to be a recurring issue affecting this model year.

4 Adaptive Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2025

The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. While utilizing super cruise on the interstate in stop and go traffic conditions, the vehicle will come to a complete halt and jerk (as though you I slammed on the breaks). This has happened approximately 4 times and each time, driving conditions were good and during hours of daylight. The halt is very violent and causes the vehicle behind me to slam on their breaks. The latest instance occurred on Tuesday may 29, 2025 and forced the vehicle behind me to swerve off of the road. The emergency breaking warning does not sound nor is there a reason for it to do so as it has happened when the vehicle in front of me is moving with traffic and has not slowed down or applied breaks. The super cruise system also does not disengage or say that the road information is unavailable. The vehicle simply comes to an abrupt halt, to the point where if things are in the seats they will fly forward and then the system behaves as though nothing has happened. Traveling speeds vary between 10-20 mph when it malfunctions. The problem has not been reproduced and it shouldn't because it is a serious safety hazard for the driver and other commuters on the road. I was told a module software update would fix the issue however that did not. There were no warning lights that occurred prior to any of the instances.

5 Adaptive Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2024

Repeated mechanical failures of my 2022 GMC sierra at4, which I purchased on October 26, 2024, with approximately 37,000 miles on the odometer. The adaptive cruse control is wonderful when it works but I have found even with the sensor clean the truck will slam on brakes on its own causing me to nearly be rear ended. It happens when driving into the sun and at night. I no longer trust adaptive cruse and use manual cruse. Within just 55 days of ownership, and after driving roughly 4,700 miles, the vehicle experienced a catastrophic engine failure without warning on December 20, 2024. This failure left the truck immobilized in a highly dangerous situation—stuck in the middle of a 65-mph highway at a red light, without the ability to shift into neutral and remove the vehicle from traffic. I was forced to activate the emergency flashers and exit the vehicle, standing helplessly on the side of the road while praying that oncoming drivers would see the truck in time to avoid a potentially deadly accident. The truck was towed to the dealership the following day, December 21, 2024, where it remained for an unacceptable 110 days awaiting a replacement engine. I finally took possession of the repaired vehicle on April 10, 2025. Shockingly, only two days later—after driving just 328 miles—the vehicle suffered a second catastrophic engine failure without warning. The truck is now inoperable once again, sitting in my driveway and in need of a third engine replacement. While the odometer currently reads 42,365 miles. This ongoing situation has been not only a major inconvenience, but also a significant safety concern and financial burden. I am extremely disappointed in the reliability and performance of this vehicle. This level of failure on a vehicle that is still under powertrain warranty is simply unacceptable.

6 Adaptive Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2024

While driving on a two lane highway at approximately 60 mph the powersteering on my truck failed with warning lights on the dash. I limped it to a town where I could get it scanned and they could not figure out the issue. The issue was intermittent for a few days until it was non-stop. It took over a month to get the reconfigured part from gm to complete the repair, gm had to reconfigure the part to fix the issue I was having. A faulty powersteering control module was the probelm and it required replacement of the entire steering rack and alignment. Gm is aware of this issue clearly due to their choice to rework the affected part, but not issuing a recall in light of the issue to take full repsonsibility/reimburse customers that have suffered monetary damage due to their failure to propperly engeineer parts.

7 Adaptive Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2024

Driving at 50mph on straight road. No traffic in front. Truck brakes activated. Went down to 29mph. Then picked up speed on its own.

8 Adaptive Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2022

After leaving my truck parked for a couple of hours over dinner I returned to find error messages stating "service power steering / drive with care" and "service esc". I also received a notification from onstar stating "diagnostic alert: service the antilock braking system in your 2022 sierra within 1 day. " my power steering was non-functional, nor were any cruise control functions. Repeated stop / start cycles did not clear the errors or regain functionality. After parking overnight everything was functional, and the errors on the dic were gone. Using a code scanner there were historical codes of u0131 and u0422.
