Engine shut off on the interstate with no warning. Would not re-start. Forced to cross lanes on traffic with no engine power or power steering. Dealer stated it was the "fuel pump control module. " stated it was a common issue with parts most likely in stock, but it would be at least 6 weeks before they could even look at the vehicle.
Engine goes to limp mode multiple times 3 of which happened getting onto the highway and almost creating an accident due to the reduced acceleration mode. Code u0656 00 popped up each time. Dealer has yet to rectify due to lack of appointments… making me keep the vehicle saying it’s drivable but each time randomly goes into the reduced acceleration mode every restart. (blasius GMC branford CT).
Approx 17 months after purchase, tailgate release button (the lower button on the tailgate that is used to open (fully) the tailgate) stopped releasing the tailgate, however tailgate releases randomly when opening one of the truck doors. Based on the "fix" that has been subscribed for existing chevy & GMC trucks with recalls for this same problem (although my truck isn't covered by current recalls) , my mechanic has ordered a new tailgate release switch (or whatever it is called) which they are installing tomorrow.
I bought truck brand new one week later the tailgate opened while driving and hit the trailer and destroyed the tailgate. So I bought a brand new tailgate and repaired truck. Few months ago it happened again all my tools flew out into the highway almost caused a major accident and destroyed my saw and tools got thrown all over the road. Last week it opened again and destroyed the new tailgate I bought. The dealer is aware, GMC is aware and no parts to fix it or does anyone want to help me just let me drive a truck that is so unsafe. It's all over the internet this issue people are saying there tailgate opens while driving and GMC made a statement saying they are aware but not helping me. Sold me a truck for alot of money knowing it's a major dangerous defect that can cause major damage and serious injury on the road.
The vehicle has experienced repeated incidents of sudden reduced engine power and loss of acceleration while driving. On multiple occasions, while traveling at highway speeds, the vehicle failed to respond normally to throttle input and would not accelerate as commanded and loss of power steering making it difficult to turn the steering wheel and apply brakes. One incident resulted in throwing my truck off the road and luckily we nearly avoided a multi car collision and potential pile with my wife, 8yr old daughter and newborn son in the vehicle at high speeds up to 60/70+ mph but despite avoiding a major life threatening accident to us and other drivers, resulted in striking objects, glass and debris on the side of the road causing damage to my vehicle and then sliding to a complete stop in the ditch off the highway. This creates a hazardous driving situation, particularly when merging into traffic or attempting to maintain speed with surrounding vehicles, increasing the risk of collision. The malfunction appears related to the engine, electrical system, and powertrain. During at least one dealership visit, the reduced power condition was recreated and confirmed by service personnel. However, despite multiple warranty repair attempts, the issue continues to reoccur intermittently. Warning messages have appeared at times, including reduced engine power notifications and check engine indicators, though the condition has also occurred without advance warning. The intermittent nature of the defect makes it unpredictable and unsafe. The vehicle has been out of service for more than 30 cumulative days for warranty-related defect repairs related to this and other electrical issues. Multiple repair attempts have not permanently corrected the condition. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request. Due to the unpredictable loss of acceleration and prior safety incidents, there are ongoing concerns regarding safe operation of the vehicle.
Pulled up to a stop sign and attempt to make a right turn as I was in the turn the steering wheel locked up in the turn which almost caused and accident . I had to get the vehicle towed to wyatt johnson GMC dealership in clarksville TN. I purchased this truck in Jan 2024 from romain cross pointe auto park in evansville ,indiana at 7600 e division st, evansville, in 47715 it had 13k miles. I'm the second owner I only put 2k miles since ownership. I was able to obtain a vehicle history report which shows this has been an on going problem among other issues dtc code u0131 lost communication with power steering module shows at least 9 times that romain GMC try to fix the problem. This is extremely dangerous to drive and the steering goes out this has been a known problem. . See attachments.
Vehicle had a body control module issue dealer repaired but issues never went away I did not buy the car with the tailgate opening randomly.
Component or system failure: headlights and interior lighting safety risk: complete failure of the headlight system and all interior lighting, including the dashboard during active driving. System failed during nighttime driving while in motion. Reproduced?: no inspected?: no warning lights/system messages: none present at time of failure.
I have been trying since day one of my brand new 2023 sierra denali pickup truck hence I spent a $100 k plus oem accessories at the dealer ! this complaint is in reference to the safety part of the brake trailing that disconnect and lose light and brakes ! I have spent insane times at the dealers and have complained to the GMC executive offices with nothing but excuses and absolutely zero help from GMC cooperate but continue to go make appointments at the dealers ! this is safety complaint and they are not taking this seriously at all ! there is defiantly a ongoing issue with either the computer onboard or the trailer module ! I am not a engineer but again this is a safety issue that needs to be looked at ASAP ! I do not feel safe driving the truck !.
Driving home in the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500, when the error message came up to service power steering. A short time later also had messages for esc, restraint system, and trail brakes error messages. Then lost all electric power assist on the power steering, and truck almost impossible to turn without extreme effort. Took to dealer and they had truck for almost 2 weeks and said they couldn't replicate the problem. Within 24 hours of getting it back I had the exact same problem, with total loss of power steering assist. Parked truck for approx an hour, and it reset and was functioning normally again. Short time later got the service power steering message again, but didn't lose power steering this time before the computer evidently reset. Major safety issue because if this happens while taking a turn or something at high speeds, I'll be in a ditch or lose control into another lane. Based on research, this has been happening with gm vehicles for a while now, but gm doesn't have any recall on these models, so dealer tells me there is nothing they can do.
Battery - total discharge of the battery. 2023 GMC sierra denali purchased in Jan 2023. In July 2023, vehicle with 3800 miles door would not open, engine turn on, etc with electrical system completely inoperable. Upon checking the battery, it had 0% charge.
Upon start up the hvac fan speed reduces by self and will not increase by own in auto mode.
Truck has died going down the road at 40mph. Also have electrical issues with radio. . Running boards opening going down the road. No sound from radio, signals . . . No connections to google on star lost. Radio screen half of screen shuts off. Front crash sensors go off with noting in front of vehicle. . . Loss of cameras no connection. Sounds like a bug zapper under truck. Gm has reprogrammed truck now 3 times sent a tech from factory. . . Replaced radio reprogrammed all computers again!! truck has been in the shop this time for over 30 days with 6200 miles on it this is the 4th time since I bought in June. Have a case representative from gm who will not help with issues just keeps putting me off. Have videos pictures of all the issues and have given to dealer and gm.
The infotainment system loses all audio through the speakers intermittently. When this happens I also lose the safety warning chimes as well. Shutting off the vehicle for an extended period of time resets something and it resumes normal function. I have contacted gm customer service and spoke to 3 different representatives and requested an escalation to a senior advisor, which I was told could take up to 4 days to hear back. The vehicle has 800 miles and is 1 month old, this has occurred 4 times. It has not been looked at by the manufacturer as I am waiting for return communication. Other than no sound, everything else on the touch screen seemed to be working normal, but im no technician to determine that. I feel this is a safety concern as I travel with my 13 month old daily.
