Unknown Or Other problem #1

On my way to the store I noticed reduced brake pedal and increased stopping distance. No warning lights were on at this time. On my way home the brake warning light came on and I had even less pedal and needed extreme stopping distance. I went directly to the repair station and the mechanic found heavily rusted lines especially in the areas of the abs module. One of the lines was rusted thru and leaking in the area of the abs module causing the malfunction. I already have had the brake lines to the front calipers replaced in July of 2012 due to extreme rust. I am having all the brake lines replaced with stainless steel at the time of this posting. This vehicle gets very light duty personnel use and shows no signs of rust in the body.

Brakes blew out comming down a very steep hill. I was lucky because I had a Toyota in font of me slowing down because of a squirrel crossing the street. I had also slowed down but then the Toyota stopped and I went to stop my brake lines both front and back blew out and my peddal went to the floor and I had no brakes at all. Thanks to the Toyota being there to stop me other wise I would had a very bad crash into crossing traffic or head on into a guard rail or trees. I had to pay for all new brakelines installed on my truck and the damage to the Toyota and my truck costing around 2000. 00 dollars plus the insurance over 2300. 00 for the Toyota and my front end. Now im afraid to drive my truck.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

This is a safety issue and gm should have to repair my truck at no cost to me.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

Rusted frame and side panels this is a 1997 gms sierra z71. 85,000 miles. Frame is rusted to the point it will not pass inspection and is not road safe. This is unacceptable for a vehicle of this age and so few miles.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

In my 2004 GMC sierra the wiring harness for the a/c down near the passenger floorboard smokes and I smell burning plastic and my a/c doesn't work and I talked to a few other GMC and chevy owners and they have the same problem. So if alot of people are having the same problem I think its something to look into. . .

Unknown Or Other problem #6

The speedometer has started acting erratically on my2005 GMC sierra with 70,000 miles. It will read 20 to 30 mph less than actual speed. This happens erratically so I have to monitor the tach to make sure I am close to the posted speed, maybe.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

The windshield and the side windows of my new 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 wt, have an extreme tendency to fog over in temperatures near the freezing point. I have read, and observed, that the ac compressor becomes automatically disabled when the outside temperature gets near the freeze zone (I think the actual threshold is somewhere around 40 degrees f). With the ac disabled, the defrost mode cannot keep the windows clear. The problem is magnified when there are two or three individuals in the cab. At that point, it is exceedingly difficult to clear the side windows, even to the point that frost forms on the inside window surface! very recently, while traveling to work during my 40 mile commute, I was running the ac, with the temp control set to a comfortable level and the blower about the medium setting and flowing through the main vents. The outside temperature was, apparently, hovering near the point where the electronics disable the compressor. The windshield and both side windows fogged over suddenly. I noticed the ac light was out, so I switched to defrost mode and hi blower. The windshield did clear in about a minute or two, but all of that happened while driving down the turnpike at 70 mph. This seems to be a significant safety concern. . . . At least for me and my family. If the ac compressor had stayed enabled, this would never have happened. It is very difficult to stop condensation buildup if you cannot run the ac to dry the cabin air. This design configuration seems to present an issue of safety. I am not sure if it is just this particular model. I suspect so, since it is the base model truck. We have a 2011 GMC terrain, which does not present this issue.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

A friend was driving my 2005 GMC sierra crew cab 2wd on October 2, 2010 down the interstate on her way to memphis, TN from ash, nc to pick me up. She had the cruise set at 70mph and all of the sudden the speedometer jumped to 110mph! thankfully she was using a gps unit and was able to tell how fast she was actually going. When she met up with me the next morning I looked at the speedometer with the engine off and on and the needle was stuck at 50-60mph with the vehicle sitting still. On the drive back to nc it read anything from 100-120mph at interstate speeds. Just about 2 weeks prior to this the oil pressure gauge started acting up also. I had a mechanic look at it and he said it was a problem with the instrument panel. I have called the local gm dealer's parts department and have been told the that part is approx $300+ and it is uncertain how long it would be to get one in. If the warehouse does not have one in stock they will have to send mine out for repairs and it could take a week. During this time I will not have a vehicle to drive due to the truck being out of warranty and no recall being issued.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

Frame is completely rotted & any service station I take my truck to for service or inspection refuses to work on my truck due to safety from accelerated frame rust & rot. I found upon further investigation that gm refuses to fix the problem. I now have a vehicle that is not road worthy & unsafe even thou it has low miles & is excellent condition, I am unable to get a state inspection on this vehicle & I am not able to drive my vehicle in my state due to this problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

I previously had to have the power steering cooler replaced because of leaking corroded lines. Just recently had to have trans cooler replaced because of leaking corroded lines. Mechanic said all lines underneath (brake, steering, etc) are terribly corroded and we will definitely pay attention to all corroded lines, etc in future oil change visits. The undercarriage of my truck is a corroded disaster. The rocker panels are gone. Corroded railer hitch was replaced. Luckily nothing has totally failed yet to cause an accident.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

Guage cluster for my 2005 GMC sierra is not working properly. Speedometer, engine coolant temperature & transmission temperature gauges stick, flutter, or become inoperative causing inaccurate readings.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

I did not have an accident with this vehicle. I am filing the complaint because I have previously taken my vehicle to bob jeannotte pontiac-GMC truck, inc. , Plymouth, mi 48170 (734) 453-2500 to have an inspection for rusted brake lines as well as rusted frame on the above listed incident date. My invoice # is gccs189900 and my customer assistance provided case # is 71-784-24265. I was told it was normal for the conditions by the dealer rep. This vehicle is having continual rust problems to both the brake lines and frame. I am filing this complaint as I understand there is an ongoing investigation into this problem up to year 2003 and would like my vehicle year to be included in these investigation issues.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

The abs warning light comes on intermittently. Troubleshooting and research points to the likely failure of the abs sensors in the hub of the left and right front wheels. The abs warning light occurs very frequently. Potential consequence is sudden abs failure, hence serious injury to occupants.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

The contact owns a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500. Upon purchasing the vehicle, the contact noticed that the paint job was orange peel. The dealer stated that all the vehicles were painted in that manner. The current mileage was 1,200 and failure mileage was 10. Updated 10/14/08. Updated 10/16/08.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

The spare tire hoist failed causing my spare tire to fall off. Luckily this happened in my driveway. If this had happened on the road it could have caused a fatality to anyone behind me. The cable appears to be the same material that the tailgate cables were made of. The cables were already recalled by gm.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

I own a 2005 GMC sierra and the speedometer has failed. I own a gps so I use this to help determine the speed I am traveling. I brought my vehicle into the dealer on several occasions and contacted gm and they stated they could not help me that I would have to pay $380. 00 to get it repaired. Two days after bringing into my local dealer I received a letter in the mail stating there was a class action lawsuit against gm for defective speedometers on certain makes and models.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500. After purchasing the vehicle, the contact began experiencing a drastic vibration. A defect was discovered; however, there is no remedy available. The dealer replaced the powertrain, wheel, wheel rotation, and driver assembly, but the failure still persists. General motors has yet to offer a response as to how they can assist. The failure and current mileages were 1,600. Updated 03/04/08.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

Dash board cracking an Dodge ram truck.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

Speedometer acts all erratic, sometimes will show I am going 30 mph more then I really am, may sometimes show the needle being buried and not going over 20 mph actually, sometimes doesn't register at all, needle is jumpy, and at other times it will go back to normal for a few days without any incidents. This all started happening once my vehicle hit 51k miles. The dealership stated it may be the instrument cluster and could cost upwards of $1300 to replace.
