The contact owns a 1999 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that every time he approaches a stop at approximately 10 mph, the abs engages and the vehicle jerks forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that it was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock). The dealer stated that the hub bearing needed to be replaced at the cost of $1,700. The current mileage was 120,000 and failure mileage was 96,000. Updated 12/12/07.

Consumer had an intermittent problem with brakes. Brake pedal would go to floor when tyring to stop. Also, if it was pressed a couple of times it would kick back in. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong with vehicle, and said to bring it back when vehicle was having the problem.
Brake problems since purchase of vehicle. When going over bump and braking at same time, abs kicked in and it took longer than usual to stop, up to 1 1/2 car lengths. GMC CO and dealer said that was how their vehicles reacted.
While driving on local roads applied brakes and heard squealing noise. Contacted dealer and was told vehicle needed new brakes. They were not under warranty. Later, while driving down the road, slowed down to make a turn, and steering wheel would not turn. Also, there was noise in the steering column. Vehicle has been at dealer's 5 times for both, brake and steering repairs.
