1 Brake Fluid Leak problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2015

I was moving the vehicle in the driveway when the break pedal went to the floor. The truck stopped so I got out and looked under it and saw break fluid pouring out of a break line that had completely rusted through. The former owner had already had another break line replaced because his breaks had ruptured due to the lines rusting through while driving at highway speeds and towing a fifth wheel camper. He was able to avoid wrecking and came to a stop. This truck has low miles and about 90% of its use has been during the summer so it has had limited contact with salted roads yet the entire undercarriage of the vehicle is rusting at an incredible rate. I am fortunate that I was simply moving the truck rather than hauling my camper on the highway which is it's typical use; I and/or others could have been severely injured or killed. The rusting through of the break lines is a safety issue!.

2 Brake Fluid Leak problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2013

As I began backing out of my drive way my brake peddle went to the floor and I had a rapid decrease in braking power. Upon investigation I noticed brake fluid leaking from the brake lines right above the frame rail on the driver side. If this happened while driving it could have led to injuries or fatalities especially when such a large and heavy truck suddenly loses braking power.

3 Brake Fluid Leak problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2012

Tl- the contact owns a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 hd. While driving approximately 15 mph, the contact depressed the brakes and the brake pedal abnormally traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The tow truck driver noticed that brake fluid was leaking onto the rear axle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000. Kmj.

4 Brake Fluid Leak problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2011

Hydraulic brakes failed without warning while driving on a back road pulling the trailer with a 500 lb mower in the trailer. Brake fluid poured from the behind the driver door under from the frame near the fuel filter and brake line distribution block. Front brake lines replaced one year ago after an accident where the brakes also failed and front brake lines replaced. 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 4wd with about 40k mileage. Brake failure has occurred twice with this vehicle. . . I have another car, Dodge grand caravan with 97k and no brake line problems. Stays in the same driveway and drives the same roads.

5 Brake Fluid Leak problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2011

While applying brakes in traffic brake pedal went to floor and truck would not stop. Brake line underneath vehicle was corroded and burst, causing brake fluid leak.

6 Brake Fluid Leak problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2009

During an emergency stop on highway from approx. 45mph, due a tractor trailer suddenly stopping, abs brake system started to fluctuate, but truck did not stop normally. Avoided collision by veering to side of road. Left front brake line, at clip near wheel, leaked brake fluid thereby preventing quick stop. Brake pedal went to floor afterwards, there was seemed to be no secondary hydraulic system pressure for rear brakes. Emergency brake was hardly effective. Turns out all brake lines are severely corroded in nearly all areas, even under hood. Truck has 50,000 miles and is 6 years old. Have also previously experienced sudden power steering failure due to power steering line corrosion and fluid loss. Power steering system provides hydraulic boost for brakes, therefore brakes are impacted also. Brake and power steering lines seem to be made of steel with incorrect or poor alloys, thereby acting like a sacrificial anode on the truck, as evidenced by the rust throughout the lines, vs. Localized rust. Brake lines and power steering lines have been replaced. Still have several rusty lines for inspection if needed.
