Iok radio module failure. Inhibits hands free calling, total loss of all audio including safety chimes, dropped emergency call capability, multiple software updates have failed to resolve it. Vehicle is still under warranty.
The contact owns a 2022 safe haven 12-foot flatbed trailer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph and towing the unloaded trailer with a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500, while slowing down to make a right turn, the trailer detached from the tow hitch ball. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the aluminum arms on the hitch adjoined to the frame of the trailer was loose. The contact stated that because of the design of the hitch, the receiver that rests on the trailer hitch was not flush, and there was room for the trailer receiver to move up and down, causing the bolts to loosen. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that it was the normal of the bolts. The trailer was taken to an authorized dealer, and the contact was informed that the trailer was attached incorrectly. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,200. The VIN was not available.
I own a 2024 GMC sierra denali ultimate 2500hd diesel that has been out of service for 52 days due to an oil cooler / service bulletin related failure. The vehicle is under warranty. The required replacement part is on national backorder and, as of today, has not shipped. The current estimated ship date is February 17. During this time, neither the dealership nor GMC has provided proactive communication. I have had to repeatedly contact them for updates. This extended inability to repair a critical component, combined with the lack of parts availability and communication, raises concerns about the reliability of this system and the manufacturer’s ability to support safe operation of the vehicle in a reasonable timeframe. The truck is my primary vehicle and is intended for towing and transportation. Being unable to repair it for nearly two months due to parts unavailability presents a significant safety and reliability concern.
Safety concern report: 2024 GMC sierra gear shifter obstruction ? vehicle information: 2024 GMC sierra [specify 1500/2500/3500] [optional: VIN number] ? description of the problem: I am writing to report a design concern with my 2024 GMC sierra. The location and height of the gear shifter on this vehicle significantly obstruct the driver’s view of the center infotainment screen and console, especially while seated in a normal, upright driving position. The gear shifter blocks important information such as navigation directions, eta, media controls, and other on-screen notifications. This forces me to lean forward or reposition myself in an unnatural way while driving, which I believe creates an unnecessary distraction and increases the risk of driver error or loss of situational awareness. I have attempted to adjust my seating position, steering wheel angle, and seat height, but none of these adjustments fully resolve the obstruction. After discussing this issue with other owners online, I found that multiple GMC sierra owners have experienced the same visibility problem. Some have even resorted to aftermarket modifications to address the design flaw. I believe this is a design oversight that affects safe vehicle operation. I respectfully request that GMC and the national highway traffic safety administration review this issue for potential corrective action. ? requested action: please investigate this safety concern and consider potential solutions, such as a recall, design revision, or retrofit option to improve screen visibility without forcing the driver into unsafe driving postures. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Warning chimes and tones go silent intermittently, thus not providing audible alerts to the driver of vehicle problems and/or warnings. The problem has been reported and confirmed by a gm dealership. The dealership confirmed that there is a bulletin within the gm system that there is a problem however there is no current fix. This problem has existed for over 10 months of ownership. There is no warning that this has occurred other than there is no warning chimes/tones, only visual indicators.
Loss of audio throughout an entire drive/ignition cycle. This includes the loss of the blinker click/clack audio when the blinker is on. When the loss of audio issue occurs, the driver has no audio input indicating a blinker is on even though the actual blinker is flashing to other drivers. Therefore, an unaware driver (due to no audio feedback) with a blinker left on could have another driver pull out in front of them thinking they intended to turn with the result being a collision.
Replaced the exhaust tail pipe tip past the dpf and warning light came on after miles of driving. Vehicle was locked up and only able to drive 55 mph and there was a countdown to it dropping even lower. Dangerous to limit speed. This shouldn’t happen anyway with just changing out exhaust tailpipe. Very costly unnecessary repair.
The ac/heat blower (fan) stopped working. The vehicle was new purchased new may 2023. August 2024 the blower motor stopped working. Took the vehicle to jerry's GMC weatherford, TX (where it was purchased) and they check the blower motor and replaced it. No charge for the service. Reason given for blower motor problem was, "motor shorted out, burnt the wiring and the connector". Now, February, 2025, the blower motor stopped working once again. Took it back to jerry's GMC, weatherfore, TX. The blower motor had shorted out once again, burnt the wires and connector. Reason given for the reaccurring problem, " the blower motors they are getting have a bearing problem, causing the motor to go to ground, overheat the wiring and burns the connector". They replaced the blower motor once again and no charge. The reason for this notice is, with these motors shorting out because of internal problems, the wiring melting and connector melting, there is the possibility of a fire hazard. We feel that there needs to an investigation into this problem before something happens. Thanks.
The tailgate was automatically dropped while trailer was connected. Destroyed my tailgate. This should never happen.
GMC has a problem with the electronic brake controller on their 2024 Sierra 2500hd and 3500hd trucks. All trailers are required to have trailer brakes. In addition the trailer must be equipped with an auxillary battery to activate the emergency breakaway brakes. If the voltage on this battery is higher than the towing vehicle battery, the vehicle controller can display a trailer wiring fault display. When this happens there are no brakes on the trailer. This fault happens intermittantly and can last between 10 seconds to 30 seconds. We constantly have this problem with our vehicle. On two occasions we were in an emergency situation towing a12,500 lb load and had no brakes. This is a severe safety concern. The GMC dealer stated that the problem is because our trailer uses a regular car battery to work the hydraulics and the brakes. They stated that the controller pings the trailer to see is anything is connected and that the car battery can interfear with this signal. When this signal does not return the controller senses that no trailer is connected and disables the trailer brakes. The trailer that we have is new and it is wired according to industry standards. Thre are thousands of trailers on the road that have this configuratiion. We have inspected the trailer and cannot find wiring problems. We have towed the same tyrailer with two different trucks and do not have this problem. A quick search on the internet will reveal that many other people are experiencing the same problem.
Upon starting our 2024 GMC Sierra 2500hd after towing a camping trailer for approximately 200 miles, the following error notifications would cycle every 20 seconds to 5 minutes: "check trailer wiring" "service trailer brake system" the trailer brake would become disabled after these errors, and sometimes would connect with a "trailer brake connected" message, only to repeat every 20 seconds to a few minutes later. During the 60 minutes in which I drove to an RV dealership to have the problem looked at, on multiple occasions, I had no trailer brakes when braking, or had no trailer brakes until the trailer brakes suddenly connected at below the speed of 35 - 25 mph. Gm has acknowledged document 6420021 and bulletin #23-na-149 that this could happen when pulling a trailer with a battery, generator, or solar charger that has a higher state of charge than the vehicle battery. This is an extremely unsafe condition that could easily cause a rear-end accident or a jackknife condition of the vehicle/trailer combination. Gm has known about this issue since at least June of 2023, and as of September, they have an updated trailer brake controller that is supposed to correct this issue. There should be an immediate recall of the vehicles involved to have the trailer brake module replaced with the updated part.
