Exhaust manafold bolts are breaking off for no apparent reason. I have four broken already and an exhaust leak developing. This appears to be a defect in manufacturing. I have a friend with two of the same trucks that the same thing has happened to. There are numerous complaints posted on the web. I have had many vehicals over the years and worked them hard but have never seen a broken exhaust manafold bolt on any of them. This can be a dangerous situation as having exhaust leaks under hood could cause a fire. As far as I know gm has not issued a bulletin or recall on this but there should be some remediation as this is an expensive repair and it is not a failure caused by the lack of maintenance. I have also heard reports of repaired units breaking again in about the same number of miles and having to be repaired again.
Driving down/up a very curvy road and my speedometer became inaccurate. I had to use my gps the best I could to know how fast I was going, so that I wouldn't speed. The speedometer would move up and down but at the wrong speeds. In park at one point said 56mph, at another point 45-50mph. I took it to my local chevy/GMC dealer to get it repaired. Waiting for the appropriate parts, but the parts are going to cost me over $400 + labor. This is a dangerous problem to have, especially where it affects all my gauges, not just my speedometer, mine just showed itself through the speedometer. This is a ridiculous cost to incur for something that shouldn't fail in the first place.
Brake failure due to rusted brake line, truck lost all brake fluid!.
I have had a rattle in the dashboard of my 2009 GMC from about two weeks after purchsae. I have had it in for repair 7 times in the year 1 year 5 months of ownership. Last repair was done about 4 weeks ago and rattle started again two weeks after last repair. I am not sure if this is an issue that can comprimise the steering or not.
Instrument panel works very rarely, can't tell how fast you are going or what gear you are in and the antilock brakes make it so the vehicle won't stop when you are moving at low speeds.
The speedometer unexpectiable stopped working on my 2004 GMC seirra 2500 hd as I was driving down I-4. It was registering 65mph one minute, then the next 0 mph. This orginally happened approximately 1 1/2 years ago. I contacted my dealer where I purchased the the vehicle. T that time, I had approximately 69000 miles on the vehicle. He told me to try and restarting it and it should start working right again. Which it did. It has continured to act up since and is becoming more frequent. The dealer now tells me that its is the instrument cluster and needs to be replaced. This is a hazard as ehen it stopps working, I have know idea as to my speed. It is my understanding that this is a know problem by gm and they offered a extended fix option, but did not notify gm owners of this hazard.
Truck was traveling approximately at fifty or fifty five, suddenly driver lost control of vehicle, went off the road and landed in trees and bushes, none of the air bags deployed, there were three passengers.
The speedometer, tachometer, and other gauges on my 2003 GMC Sierra 2500hd instrument cluster are defective. This is a well known universal problem with gm products.
