The contact owns a 2022 GMC 3500. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the trailer plug was connected, and electrical fuses popped. The contact stated that all the fuses were blown. In addition, the contact stated while driving the vehicle, the trailer brakes did not function as intended. The contact stated that the trailer brakes went off and on. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed trailer brake control module. The contact was informed that the trailer brake control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact referenced an unknown recall repair which had a similar failure description, however the contact's VIN was not associated with the recall. In addition, the contact stated that the failure originally began in March 2024, however an unknown part was replaced, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,308.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 equipped with a 2024 gatormade 35+5 trailer. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions, the "check trailer wiring" message was displayed. Additionally, when the brake pedal was depressed however, the trailer did not slow as intended; however, the rear brake lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
