1 Fuel Pump problem of the 2001 GMC Sierra 3500

Failure Date: 02/18/2006

The contact owns a 2001 GMC Sierra 3500. Intermittently, when the vehicle is driven at any rate of speed, it shuts off without warning. The contact must wait up to 20 minutes to restart the vehicle. The fuel pump was replaced. The vehicle was taken to the dealer at least four times for this failure. The fuel filter was changed on one occasion, but the failure could not be duplicated for the other three. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 07v521000 (engine and engine cooling). The current mileage was 115,000 and failure mileage was 80,000.

2 Fuel Pump problem of the 1996 GMC Sierra 3500

Failure Date: 12/18/2003

Vehicle intermittently stalled while driving at various speeds. Condition forced driver to pull off the road. Power steering and brakes failed when vehicle stalled. Dealer replaced at 28000 miles the fuel pump and computer, but same problem recurred.

3 Fuel Pump problem of the 1996 GMC Sierra 3500

Failure Date: 01/14/1998

Fuel pump has gone out and vehicle has become inopreable. Contacted dealer and the dealer was not willing to do anything. The consumer stated that the pump was replaced 14 times but no change. Also, the truck has no power for steering or braking when it stalls.
