1 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2024 GMC Sierra 3500

Failure Date: 09/16/2024

On multiple occasions, the vehicle has suffered from a severe computer failure. This results in the driver information center losing all data, the climate system shutting down, loss of all driver assistance features, loss of computer based safety systems, and prevents the vehicle from shutting down or being restarted until the batteries are disconnected. This results in the driver having no information about speed or engine parameters while driving. This error has not been reproducible by the dealer however they were able to assess it while one error occurred while driving by them. Their diagnostics show a complete failure of all 3 data buses and failure of the serial data gateway. Troubleshooting thus far has been unsuccessful. During the failure, all errors possible are lit on the warning lamps and the driver information center displays warnings for all vehicle modules. The attached photo was taken during one of the events after pulling off the freeway. While traveling at freeway speeds, the information on the screen was the same indicating no speed. This presents numerous safety risks.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 GMC Sierra 3500

Failure Date: 10/23/2021

While towing our trailer, truck went into reduced power mode, regen message displayed; check engine light came on; loud bag occurred and hissing from under the hood. Truck slowed to 3 mph so we pulled to shoulder and turned the vehicle off. Truck had blown the hose off the the turbo. We reclamped and restarted. Displayed check engine light, reduced power & regen message to keep driving however truck wouldn’t go over a 3mph crawl. Truck lost all power, everything shut down and wouldn’t restart. No dash lights, no error, no crank, no power. We were dead on the highway in the truck lane while towing. This truck goes into reduced power mode every time it tries to regen and we have had it to the dealer multiple times however, the problem continues to get worse. When it does regen, sometimes it takes hours. Dealer says needed a manual regen & that is their solution. Yet problem persists.

Failure Date: 08/26/2012

I drove my wife to the pharmacy and after pulling out of the parking lot onto palmdale road in victorville the truck went into to limp mode. The transmission locked up into park at 25mph almost causing a rear collision behind us. The GMC Sierra 3500hd 2009 came to a screeching stop causing a bit of whiplash to my wife and daughter on board. The tcm transmission control module along with the allison transmission failed causing this close accident. The vehicle is inoperable at this time. This is a dangerous defect.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2002 GMC Sierra 3500

Failure Date: 04/14/2012

I first noticed that the anti-lock brakes were activating at slow speeds ( 5-10 mph ) under dry road conditions. This was prior to brake line incident on 4-14-2012 but I am not sure of exact date. I researched the anti-lock brakes and found NHTSA id campaign #05v379000 action # pe05020 but this did not include my home state of kentucky. However, I have been working in ohio since the purchase of said vehicle 10-17-2001 to current date 2-11-2013. On 4-14-2012 I was preparing to take my boat to fuel it . While checking the trailer lights I stepped on the brake pedal and it went straight to the floor. I found that the brake line to the rear wheels had burst in half and was severely corroded. Upon closer inspection I found that all the brake lines showed signs of severe corroision. On 2-8-2013 I discovered that diesel fuel was leaking near the fuel tank and fuel cooler. It was found to be a corroded return fuel line between the cooler and the fuel tank . Again upon closer inspection all fuel lines show moderate to severe corroision.
