There had been a whining(like the old radial tires used to make) noise for about a week and I just figured it was the tires. It got loud on 8/24 and I stopped and put it in park, as I got out to look under the truck, it started rolling and rolled down into the woods, we have filed a police report and reported to the insurance company. We are trying to make arrangements to get the truck out. The drive shaft was lying where the truck was put in park. ,,although the park did not hold. The drive shaft twisted and split,,,exploded by the looks of it. I have pictures of the drive shaft.

While driving on the PA turnpike the driveshaft fell out of the bottom of the truck and dented various parts underneath the truck. After having the driveshaft replaced a click still occurred with the back of the truck. The mechanic believed it was a problem with the entire back axle.

There are numerous, substantial safety hazards to these vehicles which appear to be common knowledge to mechanics but denied by dealerships. The ball joints are apparently common failures according to massachusetts safety inspectors and are deemed to be an extreme safety hazard. They state that dealerships regularly deny any responsibility for this failure. My vehicle is extremely well cared for, not abused in any way, and has experienced defects, which in my opinion demonstrate gross negligence on the part of GMC's engineering/production. I am also a professional engineer, and prepared to testify the same.
