2 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 1999 GMC Sonoma

Failure Date: 05/05/2006

Not sure if belt broke first or fan blade the blade broke off and flew inside of truck causing damage to parts under the hood it was 1000. 00 to fix all the parts broken by this. I have all the old parts. The belt was ok but something caused the blade to brake off and there are noticeable cracks in the blade around the nut. Because of this failure I had to replace a lot of components under the hood.

3 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 1997 GMC Sonoma

Failure Date: 03/15/2003

Since day one of getting the truck, I notice that the gas tank meter was broke. Brought it back in to them for meter plus the brake system. They fixed the meter problem but they said needed brake pads changed. So I went home changed the brake pad, rotor, drums. Went back in ever since then till now for coolant, knocking of engine, a/c, main engine seal gaskets, brackets, fuel system, motor mounts, belts, seals, nipples, studs, fan clutch, pulleys, plus brakes are still failing,(went on line found out brakes are recalled they failed to tell me that). As far as I can see the motor is bad. The truck has cost me money out of pocket, work time, as well as my own on a persistent basis. The truck is junk.

5 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 1996 GMC Sonoma

Failure Date: 06/18/2000

My timing tensioner keeps wearing out after about 15,000 miles, it started when I bought my truck in 96 around 25,000 miles I notice a ticking sound coming from the engine,I took the truck is to the service dept. They told me I was using the wrong oil filter,ha ha. They did something to the truck but the ticking stop until 36,000 miles and then my warranty was gone. I have replaced the timing chain tensioner 7 times since I bought the truck. I have had nothing but problem with this truck ever since my warranty had expired, the tensioner broke one time when I was on the highway, bent two valves, and a head job later still having problems. To me it looks like I may have bought a lemon. This may not be on all trucks but it sure has happen to mine. Its like the timing system does not line up. To wear the tensioner in such a short time. I have replaced with gm parts.

7 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2000 GMC Sonoma

Failure Date: 01/01/1901

Consumer states in the winter time with a coat on, it is difficult to fasten the drivers seat belt, the steel end of the belt is bent too much toward the drivers hip, requiring the driver to push the belt toward the center of the vehicle so the other end of the belt can be inserted into the buckle, the local dealer refused to install a new belt because the replacement would be identical to the factory original. The consumer stated then engine oil drain plug was designed too small, it has a hexagon head. The socket or wrench slips on the plug head and damages the plug. The consumer had to drive to the dealer to have the plug removed. Updated.
