My spare tire on my 2002 GMC Sonoma pickup fell out of its carrier. It rolled across two lanes of traffic, luckily traffic was light and no one was struck by the run away wheel. I appears the cable that secures the spare on the truck parted. This is the first time the spare has been off the truck.
The spare tire fell off while driving. The wire cable snapped.
My GMC truck has had many problems with the fuel and emissions system but now the truck hesitates and stalls on a regular basis. The truck will stall while driving it causing a very unsafe atmosphere. While accelerating the truck will sometimes hesitate which slows down acceleration. Many other chevy/GMC s-10 owners have told me about the same problems.
1999 GMC Sonoma experienced problems with transmission, cd player, tires and heating coil. Consumer concerned that dealer did not tell them that there was a recall on this vehicle. The transmission was replaced, exchanged rebuilt torque converter with trances filler 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty.
I was sitting with my son on the tailgate of my GMC Sonoma and both tailgate cables broke causing us to fall to the ground. I bruised my back but did not seek medical attention. After several calls to GMC, I was told that there was a recall but they have never contacted me since the date of the incident.
While the driver was adjusting the seat the handle sheared off. Consumer drove the vehicle to dealer for inspection, and mechanic replaced driver side seat handle. Also, mechanic determined that the passenger side seat handle needed to be replaced . The consumer has had four handles replaced in all.
Spare tire fell off.
Seals and gaskets for the differential, power steering, oil pan and drive train were all worn and needed replacing.
Since day one of getting the truck, I notice that the gas tank meter was broke. Brought it back in to them for meter plus the brake system. They fixed the meter problem but they said needed brake pads changed. So I went home changed the brake pad, rotor, drums. Went back in ever since then till now for coolant, knocking of engine, a/c, main engine seal gaskets, brackets, fuel system, motor mounts, belts, seals, nipples, studs, fan clutch, pulleys, plus brakes are still failing,(went on line found out brakes are recalled they failed to tell me that). As far as I can see the motor is bad. The truck has cost me money out of pocket, work time, as well as my own on a persistent basis. The truck is junk.
I noticed in a reflection off the vehicle in front of me that when I turned my turn signal (doesn't matter which one, right or left), that my day time running lights go off. This started out as only happening on occasion and then proceed to get worse. By February 17, 2003, the day time running lights would go off every time I used my turn signal. I took my vehicle into the dealer on that date and was informed after they had contacted gm, that it was normal for it to do that. I bought the truck in July of 2002 and it had not done it up until that point, I know because I have followed my husband's vehicle several times and he would have noticed it. Anyway, the dealer showed me in the owners manual where it says some vehicles may do this and they refused to do anything about it although it had never done this before. I find this unsafe as it would be very distracting to oncoming drivers plus the fact that I worry something is wrong in the electrical system.
I think there should be a recall on all 2001 GMC Sonomas. Everyone I talk to have had to have there breaks replaced within 5000 miles. I just put breaks on my truck in September. They need the rotors turned again and I need breaks I have talked to the dealership and they will not do anything about them maybe you can.
When fuel tank has 1/4 tank remaining of fuel the gage will read as empty or below empty. Have checked twice with the dealer and they claim that there is no known remedy from the manufacturer. Dt.
The complaint is about my transmission in my 1998 GMC Sonoma. Engine service light came on so I took the truck in for service. I was told that the transmission needed to be rebuilt or replaced as per the service bulletin. A $2,200-dollar fix. The truck is not quite 3 years old though I have 59000 miles on it. I can tell you that Im the only one that has driven this truck and it has hauled no more than groceries I called the customer care center and gm has said they would pay 40 percent of the repair ref case number: c05710638. At first I thought this was better than nothing. But I believe there is a major problem with the transmission and general motors should stand behind the product due to the nature of the failure, warranty or not. This is not right. This is a major part of the vehicle and should not have gone bad this quickly. I will continue to do all the research I can to show that this failure is not normal. If a service bulletin was issued then I think it was a known problem, gm has admitted that they have seen this problem before but because the vehicle is out of warranty this is all will do.
I bought this truck off wally armour in alliance ohio. After getting it home we found out there was front end trouble,it shook real bad,also head light did not come on all the time and the mirror on drivers door shimmied bad and mirror on window was falling off. This vehicle is a 1998 Sonoma GMC. I took the vehicle back as a lemon and now they are charging me over a thousand dollars worth of taxes besides ruining my credit to nearly zero. What can I do?is there defaults on this vehicle?.
While driving engine check light flashes. Then vehicle cuts off, and vehicle drifts to the side of the road.
We have had numerous problems with this vehicle sine one month after purchase including the idle sticking/interior moulding cracking/transmission rebuilt/computer replaced due to failure engine check light indicator light does not turn off, and right side brake does not seem to wear properly. . My husband is able to recall more.
Decals on front bumper and drivers side door were pealing off. These were both replaced on service order dated 6-25-98. This however took 3 trips, 3 different days and about 2 weeks time to complete. Decals are now beginning to peal off again. This time the passenger's side door is joining in on the pealing. I took the truck to the dealer where I purchased it from and they said, "stone chips on frt, pass. Door has ding from another vehicles door stone chips -damage not warrantable-striped are well adhered". I found this rather amusing because I can take a hose and spray them off. I assume they must have a high power microscope to see a ding in the door. I still can not find one in this area. I now have another GMC dealer working on replacing them for the second time. They have them on order. 7-26-99.
The cable that held the spare tire broke while driving which caused the tire to bounce down the road.
Cruise control does not have indicator light on dash to alert when activated.
