Two problems related to steering gear box have been reported for the 1997 GMC Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Due to the steering gear box freezing up, the steering wheel locked up which almost caused an accident. After a few minutes, steering returned to normal, while taking vehicle to repair shop, steering wheel locked up again, dealer replaced steering gear box.
Steering box continually failed.
