Tire Tread/belt problems of the 1999 GMC Suburban

Failure Date: 06/26/2004

While the vehicle was parked consumer observed all four tires showed cracks around the rim and the steel belt was also noticeable. After market equipment, installed at 20,000 miles. Dot # m670jc0r0902, m6700jc0r38301 & two were m670jc0r10027. Dealer was notified and replaced the tires at a pro rate.

2 Tire Tread/belt problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2004

While traveling on i25 about 75 mph , had tire separation on goodyear wrangler at/s tires. Caused approximately $2900. 00 damage to vehicle.

3 Tire Tread/belt problem

While driving, left rear tire had tread separation which caused tire to explode. Size lt2457516. Orginial tire. Dot vn11 b3a 219.

4 Tire Tread/belt problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2001

Tread separated on front and back tires, had a bulge where tires separated. Tire size 245/75r16, dot# stltxr4211, original equipment on 1999, GMC, subarban.

5 Tire Tread/belt problem

Tire tread separated while at 65 mph. Steering erratic with major vehicle vibration. These oem firestone tires were not balanced when the vehicle was received from the factory. The dealer's shop tried to balance all four tires and sent the vehicle out for balancing at a local tire dealer with marinal sucess. Very carefully placed, large wheel balance weights were required to meet minimum acceptance. More than 8/32ths tread remained on the tire with an even tread wear pattern. (dot number: v611 b1a tiresize: lt24575r16).

6 Tire Tread/belt problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2001

Tread separated from the tire and damaged the vehicale. I have photographs of the tire and the tread. I also have one of the orginal tires left on the spare rim. Gm will not repair the damage because they said they need the old tire. I was 3000 miles from home and had to purchase new tires to get home I had to keep a good tire for the spare not the blown tire.

7 Tire Tread/belt problem

Rear passenger side tire tread had separated from tire. Tire began to lump inside and peeled off. Vehicle was moving about 65 mph. Tire was a firestone steeltex p45/75 r16 made in mexico. Tire was original tire purchased with vehicle. GMC, Suburban, 1999.

8 Tire Tread/belt problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2000

Tread separated from the tire and damaged the rear quarter panel, left side rear door, left side running board and other minor miscellaneous damage. The tire did not blow out and we were able to coast to an exit. (dot number: v611b1a tiresize: l245/75r16).

9 Tire Tread/belt problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2000

While vehicle was being inspected for an alignment, it was discovered that the left front firestone (2457516 steel tex rdl r4s 11 bw e)had separated, which was replaced, however on the second occasion while at firestone, the other three tires were found to have separated as well, consumer is requesting reimbursement for the tires purchased.

10 Tire Tread/belt problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2000

Left rear tire on this 1999 Chevrolet Suburban has completely lost tread, tire is still inflated. It is a steel tex/at lt245/75r16. Firestone has been contacted.

11 Tire Tread/belt problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2000

While driving about 40 mph and towing a trailer, passenger's side rear tire blewout. Driver was able to maintain control of vehicle. Original tire equipment on a 1999, Suburban. Tire size p24575r216. Tire mileage at 39,000. Firestone was contacted about t problem. Owner was told that he could replace the tire, and file a claim for reimbursement.

12 Tire Tread/belt problem

Failure Date: 03/25/1999

The michelin 235 75 p15 tires on the vehicle experienced tread separation at 12048 miles, the vehicle has been through three sets of tires with only 39154 miles on the vehicle.

13 Tire Tread/belt problem

Rear driver's side tire tread separated while driving at 70mph. Dealer said it was a tire defect. Goodrich tire.
